Maybe someone can link it? Looks to have all the new freshmen, including quite a few walk-ons we probably weren’t aware of.

Others can also comment if anyone is missing that we want to mention. I think I see one new grad transfer I don’t recall hearing about - a WR from Virginia.

Cedric Patterson isn’t on the roster. I thought that he was going to return but perhaps injuries said otherwise. Maybe that’s why we added the UVA receiver - that’s still a massive position of strength with McCaffrey, Rozner, the UCLA transfer, etc.

Something like 113 players on the new roster. That’s probably a higher total than recent years.

I'm so confused by this move. He's 100% in his last year of eligibility and he's our leading receiver with a secured starting spot. Why would he want to transfer to another school in his last year just to fight for a spot against players that have been practicing with their teams since the spring? I expected him to transfer 5-6 months ago. But now? I don't get it

Agree. It's not smart on his behalf, unless something happened that made him change his mind about the whole situation. He's a starter, and he finally has a good QB throwing the ball. If he can put on some weight, he's an NFL prospect.

If McCaffrey goes down with injury at any point, then we're thin at this position. It's a big loss. Very disappointing. Rozner was a big weapon for us.

I’m guessing a Power 5 school offered a few bucks to come on over for a season. He’s been here a long time now, already got at least one Rice degree (probably more at this point). Why not?

Our receiver room is pretty weak at this point. McCaffrey, some transfers, Braylen Walker, and some freshmen and guys we’re trying to convert from other positions (Jovoni Johnson).

I read that Rozner already has his masters.

I do hate to lose Rozner, but geez, he’s like entering his 8th year of eligibility since he graduated from high school? Maybe his 7th? Good luck to him. He has done a lot for Rice.

We still have weapons at WR. McCaffrey is our #1 obviously. The UCLA transfer should be the #2 guy. Campbell turned into a good slot receiver late last year. The UVA transfer might help. And then a lot of younger guys. I am not worried about that position- OL remains the position I am most worried about.

Awfully late to be entering the football portal, saying nothing of getting accepted into a grad school program at this point.

Massive blow even if we're deep at WR. Rozner was arguably (probably) our top weapon on offense.

I agree. Additionally, Rozner did not practice with the team during spring, so not much in the way of continuity with Daniels will be missed. Best wishes to him.

Best thing about having Rozner and McCaffery on the field at the same time was the ability to force/read the bracket or doubles especially on crucial downs. This was probably something where our lack of experience and continuity at QB was a big issue. I'm hoping others can step up, but as of now I'd say that doubling/putting their best guy on McC would be page 1 on every DC's handbook... until someone else steps up.

Opposing teams already were putting their best man on MCCaffrey, and occasionally doubling him. Did no one pay attention last year?

Losing Rozner hurts near the end zone. Hopefully the 6-4 UCLA or UVA transfers can fill that void. But look at Campbell and Walker over the last four games. Those two plus perhaps Tyson Thompson gives us plenty of speed underneath.

We have weapons at this position. And if Daniels is healthy, we have a far more accurate thrower.

Again and I can’t stress this enough, the offensive success hinges on the OL.
