Makes no sense and quite a few of those UAC (WAC/ASUN) programs are truly not in position to make the move to FBS.

Some of those programs could eventually be in CUSA but not as a collective.

Now, if the NCAA makes some changes which suddenly reward conferences for being larger than 10 members, we might look into a major expansion. I still don't see us merging with anyone. Poaching, maybe.

CUSA won't "merge" with anyone..CUSA is grandfathered in the CFP deal, so as long as they exist, unless something unforeseen happens, they will remain intact. Any new conference isn't necessarily guaranteed a seat at the CFP table.. However, CUSA could eventually take a couple of WAC schools.

No way …..In all of this realignment name what 2 conferences merged.
Conferences select what teams they want and invite them individually
Also there are WAC teams that have no football program at all.
Once the 5 million entry fee for FBS starts most of the teams will rethink
Going FBS especially with decreasing enrollments and a conference that
Includes teams from every time zone

Well, if they do merge, I think a $100 million fee from WAC/ASUN that should be split among the current CUSA members would be a place to start.

In fairness, UWF and VSU would be awesome additions to an FCS conference.

That was a move I kept wishing the conference would make when Jax State was still in the ASUN.

VSU would fit well with the four Florida ASUN schools, and UWF would've given Southeastern Louisiana a travel partner, if they were to come on board. (The Southland at the time appeared to be falling apart. Amazing how things change.)

As for how UWF and VSU would fit in CUSA... I'd welcome both... in like, I dunno, 10-15 years. But I'd be crazy surprised if either had FBS aspirations, even after that amount of time. I'm still not even sure either one really wants to leave D-II.

Oh, I would love it! I live in Pensacola and would love for the ASUN to get them ASAP! But, Matt Brown and others refuted that site’s post immediately. Sadly.

Pensacola is a D1 town more than most in the ASUN, WAC, and even some in CUSA. FBS? Nah. But, D1 and FCS, absolutely.

Pensacola hosts the SEC Soccer tournament, SBC basketball tournaments, has hosted FBS schools in baseball at Blue Wahoos Stadium and Orange Beach, AL (next door) hosts the national championships for beach volleyball, etc.
