RE: Big 12 Executes New Media Deal
Thursday and Friday games are going to become more common as the P5 conferences keep adding members. When you've got a lot of members and limited Saturday spots on ESPN,etc you're going to have to have some Thursday and Friday night games to keep everyone somewhat happy. The Big 10 and SEC will have to do it too in the near future.

The Big 12 is already doing this:

9/29 - Cincinnati @ BYU
10/6 - Kansas State @ Oklahoma State
10/12 - WVU @ Houston
11/2 - TCU @ Texas Tech
11/24 - Texas Tech @ Texas, TCU @ Oklahoma

RE: Big 12 Executes New Media Deal
The Big 12 ramping up weeknight games is something they'll just have to get used to.

The Big 12 had 2 or 3 a year in recent history and they ramped it up this year. I suspect the Big 12 GOTW is going to be a weeknight property like the old Big East had.

This idea that that ESPN was going to give more main network exposure compared to ACC was Baylor B.S.

Edit: We really have no knowledge of how Fox is going to approach the games they own either. I would not be shocked to see Fox weeknight games.

I think you're right.

It makes perfect sense for ESPN to use all their Big XII picks to basically put the Big XII game of the week on every Thursday night at 8est/7cst.

Yeah, it could be the exact opposite. Sign the contract to actually use the pro rata clause....

True, and it is also to showcase the linear exposure available to Big12 members.

So is the ACC.

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference and its television partners announced the kickoff times and networks for all ACC controlled contests during the early weeks of the 2022 football season Thursday.

Also included are the times and networks for the Thursday and Friday night contests throughout the 2022 season.

Your move Kliavkoff

Does he even have a move to offer?

Jumping on the Reds bandwagon? The 2 Central divisions are such garbage as I predicted once they stopped playing each other 72 times per season.

What a lame comment 07-coffee3

$7 M per team for gambling data is great.

That’s equivalent to the AAC’s media deal.

RE: Big 12 Executes New Media Deal
BY was on a BYU video podcast of a fan, and he is talking about a new deal to add schools who are willing to stay in the Big 12 for a long time. That is a single to G5 schools. Does not mean Gonzaga since there is a pushback against them since they are an R3 school with academics worst than Boise State. He wants into the 4th time zone, and if he can't get any PAC 12 schools to budge? That means MWC G5 teams might be targeted to get into the 4th rime zone.

San Diego State
Fresno State
Boise State
UNR
UNLV

Are they targets to get to 14 or 16? I could throw in Air Force as well. I think BY is working for another type of deal to add G5 groups because some of the MWC schools are valuable to add along with Memphis.

Yes, he's waiting for it to cost $34 million from those five schools to the Mountain West. He could have had them before when it wouldn't cost them near as much, but his pursuit is hot and heavy now that its twice as costly.

With so many Liberal companies tanking right now…..and most of the PAC schools are the most Liberal in the P5 it’s almost a no brainer why most networks don’t want to touch them. Call it the Bud and Target effect.

Big 10 have a bunch of liberal schools.

Not surprising

Not gonna lie this is gross. Big MAC energy.

We're really a booboo conference now.

You guys got $31.6m a year out of a near death experience, and you've spent the past 6 months lobbing grenades at the Pac while they constantly fumble from bad to worse. I'd say that qualifies as a HUGE success from where you were 2 years ago, even if you don't end up getting any of the 4c right now, or if you end up playing every single game during the week.

No, no they won't.

I don't think that we'll HAVE to do it, but if the NFL starts creeping into some of our Saturdays we might have to at least consider it. Maximum exposure trumps all, and if there are more eyeballs available to us on Friday evening than Saturday noon then we will adjust.

LOL. Let's not derail the thread but...born and raised in Ohio and lived there for 35 years until moving to North Carolina. Been a Reds fan since I played little league baseball - over 40 years as a loyal fan. Am I excited that they have a young, talented team? You bet!

And don’t forget Louisville is its AAA team that sent many of those young players 100 miles up I-71COGSCOGS
