Question Baseball Stadium Progress
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University's Board of Governors approved the naming of the Marshall University Baseball Field as Jack Cook Field during Wednesday's Board of Governors Meeting.

That was one of two naming opportunities approved for the stadium project by the Board of Governors on Wednesday, along with the Alex Lawrence Clubhouse.

Other naming commitments associated with the Baseball Stadium Project will also be released in the near future.

The naming of Jack Cook Field comes in conjunction with a substantial gift from the John Rulli family, who pledged to match gifts made to the baseball stadium project in Jack Cook's honor, up to $500,000. Rulli is a former Marshall baseball captain who played for Cook on the 1978 Southern Conference championship team and is now the chief administrative officer for Simon Property Group.

While I won't have a cold one in my hands, looking forward to taking the family to many a game there. We love baseball and go to Charleston now and then to catch a game, but can see us going to Marshall games frequently.

Do you happen to know what the capacity will be?

That's really good if that is just the pre-built seats in the stands. Isn't there going to be a "lawnchair" area too?

It's awesome the progress they've made. In Huff's and Spear's picture from the top of the new Video Board at the Joan, you could see the baseball stadium in the background.

It's looking better and better each week. I wonder if we are putting a logo in the outfield or leaving it plain? I like the striping of the turf.

I love that picture with all of our facilities in the background. I have heard on here about talks to build a new soccer stadium in this area and convert the Vet into an outdoor Track and Field stadium. While its just a rumor I heard, it does fix kill two birds with one stone. It gives the Soccer Team an upgraded and larger facility which they need and will be a bigger problem as the sport grows. It also fixes our problem of not having an outdoor facility for our track and field teams.

We used to have an outdoor T&F area, but they built the Rec Center and the Intramural Field where it used to be.

For the better, tbh. That side of campus has drastically changed since then.

I agree. I remember running in track meets there when I was in Jr High and High School and AAU meets.
