This kind of puts the SB3/CUSA drama to shame. I'd like to see the attorney on the CUSA boards with the long winded diatribes about bylaws chime in on this.

Mountain West: San Diego State left the conference and owes an exit fee

So should we add SDSU when MWC doesn't take them back and they are homeless? 05-stirthepot (probably more of an AAC move)

This could get interesting if they don't get into PAC or B12 as they hoped.

They could go to CUSA, and the league would literally stretch from the the Atlantic to the Pacific Oceans...just saying

This is a crazy scenario. I haven’t been paying attention too realignment at all. It’s nice being in a stable home.

UTEP and NMSU would slide the phone over and say make the call JUDY.

Thats the problem. Judy would dial the wrong number. She doesn't know anything beyond the borders of Texas.

You have to remember that for 9 years TEXAS was its very own Little ol’ Nation. A status many would like to return to. To this day, for a lot of Texicans, there is Nothing beyond the Borders of Texas. Gawd Bless The Republic of Tejas.

If that’s the reason for the ineptitude then maybe CUSA is the wrong name. CYeeHaw sounds good.

Yes, you don't have to tell us that Texas people are weird. We've known you Texas State guys long enough to know that.

Being Texas-Centric has nothing to do with her ineptitude, that foible is all her own.

I get the “spirit” of your post, even if in reality it’s probably misplaced.

At present, in The SBC, we are The Western outlier. And we’re well aware of how some of y’all just hate the thought of coming West.

We do have some fans that wouldn’t mind being part of The MWC. Personally, I just see that as Us being an Eastern outlier with an unpleasant time zone thingy goin’ on.

So, if we were to make a move, The AAC (aka: CUSA 5.0) appears to make the most sense for us from a regional perspective.

But unless we have a round of realignment with “lots of moving parts,” I just don’t see it happening. Which is fine, as we’re not dissatisfied with where we are. That said, we also don’t deny that we wouldn’t mind having another TX team (or 2) in the Belt to alleviate that “outlier” feeling.

In fact, were The Belt to add another TX team or two, it would make it The Perfect G5 Conference.

From a Herd perspective, it's not personal, we just have flashbacks of being scared of the year we have to bo out and play UTEP..

Everything in conference is not about what is good for the Eastern Division. The constant complaints about Texas State; the pimping for ECU; all of the whining from the East about not having a bus league; all those and similar complaints are getting old.
I know it is not all of you, but it is enough for it to be annoying.

The eastern division geography is perfect. Nobody is complaining about travel anymore.

I wouldn't say nobody. It's great for the Carolina schools and the newbies but the Georgia schools lose out on short drive games to the Bama schools.

Short drive for Georgia State maybe, but I would not call the drives from Statesboro to either Troy or Mobile short. I’m not even sure I would call the drive from Statesboro to Atlanta short.

Haha. The old “we screwed up so please accept our apologies and disregard the previous notice until we send you another notice in a few weeks” ploy.

Ahh a missed opportunity for us since it seems that smu would stay as well. The increased layoffs over at ESPN confirm the to me all is not well in Disney-land and opening up the aac tv contract would not be fortuitous

Disney is finally facing the reality that they paid way too much to buy the majority of FOX (except for the news network and sports channels, which were not part of the purchase). I mean they should have realized before they made the purchase that spending more money on the purchase than they were making in a year would be a bad thing long term but hey, this is where they are.

There's a diffference between "short" and "quick" :)

As suspected, the MWC let SDSU back in with just a minor penalty of legal fees.

RE: SDSU has given MWC notice of intention to leave conference
It sure sounds like once the schools in PAC got an initial look at whatever deal will ultimately be announced and did not include enough money to make it worthwhile for the remaining schools to want to invite more mouths to feed. This is very similar to when Big 12 ultimately decided not to expand a number of years ago.

The fact that the PAC still has not announced a deal and will not do so tomorrow at their media day I think speaks volumes in regards to the deal. My guess is that they are still trying to cobble some deal that will amount to just over Big 12 deal, but with an overall exposure level that is much lower. It will be interesting to see how quickly the conference craters as I believe it will within the next 18 months.
