RE: Winningest G5 programs of past decade
I'd say CUSA will turn out to be just fine. WKU, La Tech, and Liberty have done consistently well.

The AAC may see a downward trend compared to what they're used to.

RE: Winningest G5 programs of past decade
I'd like to see FCS wins taken out and then see what the tally is. I know that that puts JMU at a disadvantage, but saying that they've had 102 wins in the FBS after one season in the FBS doesn't quite make sense, even if it is true on paper. They've had 102 wins in their FCS seasons plus one season in the FBS.

That's why I didn't tally them in with the Sun Belt's average rank, and also putting an asterisk by them.

If you want to keep us involved you could always go FBS vs FBS win percentage, but that's still advantageous to us in a way due to small sample size... Although you could obviously very easily argue we were actually at a disadvantage in the one year we have since we were playing with a roster recruited almost entirely to FCS JMU.

Or you could go straight up win percentage vs FBS regardless of whether or not you were FBS at the time. That becomes more of a disadvantage to us since it brings in quite a few FCS vs FBS games and since our percentage of P5 games would be higher than other G5 programs, almost all of which would be FCS vs P5... Our FCS vs G5 record in that time is 2-1, really really should've been 3-0 but good old Mickey Matthews figured he should run the clock for 45+ minutes at Akron in 2013 once we were up 13-0 03-banghead

No matter how you slice it, gotta take JMU's rank with a grain of salt one way or another but still fun to see our name in there 04-cheers

Does it really matter how wins are counted? Should JMU continue its FB success haters are going to hate. Comes with the territory. Should JMU have an off-season the critics will crow. 04-cheers

If it wasn’t for Chip Lindsey we’d be top 3 on this list

I was going to say something similar for GS too. If it weren't for the idiots that hired Tyson Summers and then doubled down and hired the special teams coach, we would be quite a bit higher on the list.

With two disastrous back-to-back coaching hires and bottom-dweller recruiting from both goofball coaches, I am pleasantly surprised by how high GS was on the list. It is really not that hard to avoid a moronic coaching hires but our last AD made a habit of it.

At least he had a resume, Chip would have been a 10X better hire than Summers and Lunsford on paper. Chip was a decent on-paper hire that just did not work out. I can live with that and not be mad at the AD. We literally hired a position coach off two wins and slogans.

Mountain West
2. Boise Sate - 94 wins
11. Air Force - 74 wins
13. Utah State - 70 wins
13. Fresno State - 70 wins
28. Nevada - 58 wins
32. Wyoming - 57 wins
38. Colorado State - 53 wins
41. Hawaii - 50 wins
47. San Jose State - 46 wins
55. New Mexico - 38 wins
57. UNLV - 36 wins

MWC is a really middle-heavy conference from top to bottom minus New Mexico and UNLV. It's possible the conference could really bring out TXST's unleashed potential.

I'd like to see that paper.

The lack of energy he probably brought to his interview should have been enough to know he wasn't HC material. Even his introductory press conference was meh.

He thought he would be able to slide in and continue the success Neal Brown had by just the talent he inherited and then jump to another better job a year or two later.

Talent isn’t everything.
