Kieso was my buddy's professor. Simon was my professor in grad school. They are pretty recent. I finished grad school in 2017 and my buddy finished up in 2013.

I had all three in 80s. Keiso and Wygend was the bible of intermediate accounting.

I've heard of the legend of Keiso. Isn't he in several textbooks?

yes.
And was pretty darn good on the pommel horse too. Or am I thinking of a different guy?

Hopefully you all caught that was a reference to Doug Keiso. NIU Hall of Famer and NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPION on the pommel horse 1983!!!!

Edwardsville ahead of mothership Carbondale? That is so completely and utterly stupid, I don’t know where to begin?

Those names of yesteryear were great professors... Pat Delaney, Simon , Kelso and many others. How the hell I graduated was a miracle and I passed the CPA Exam. Will never forget my 314 Intermediate class with Delaney and my first exam, the one that makes 1/2 the Accounting majors into something else. First exam I bombed got a 48, but knew I needed every point to pass this class, so I disputed a grade on the exam. Delaney was open minded so he gave me the benefit of the doubt with a question which I blew and he immeadiately lowerd my score to 46. That was bad enough then he said something to the effect " You should drop the class". Which got my competitive juices rolling and I responded, I came here as an accounting major, I am not quitting. hahahaha... Had to ace the final for a hook. hahaha

I wasn't one of you lucky ones to go through that at NIU. I received my accounting degree from DePaul. (Yes, my third university!)

I taught at NIU, but a totally different field of study. I was very open minded with students, but particularly the female students. I guess you could say I was broad minded.

Wait, do you mean that there will be a place to sell hot dogs or a statue of Dog Fan showing his hot dog standing?

My dream would be to have my hot dog stand next to a life-size gleaming bronze statue of me with a dripping wiener hanging from my mouth. But, then again, I wouldn't be able to keep those hot dogs stocked and would run out before the first quarter. Status quo, I guess. 03-weeping

John Simon is one of my mom's neighbors. Delaney's widow (who was also the front office admin at Sycamore High where I went) lived one street over. I think Delaney and Simon's wives were sisters. Weird, wild stuff.

I remember having an accounting textbook where some of the story problems began with something like (I'm paraphrasing as I don't remember) "a U of I graduate comes to you with an accounting problem and needs help solving it"

Hilarious.

The tech companies building on Gurler road have a speed dial button to the NIU Engineering campus to recruit talent.
The Business, Accounting, Education, Music, (name it) programs are outstanding.
This rankings list doesn't have a clue!

That's great, but that should be the norm. Some schools have whole buildings dedicated the companies on campus.

I don't necessarily think the problem is with specific fields rather than general education, more general degrees that probably more than offset the smaller departments with more highly ranked degrees.

That has always been the case. Just that NIU probably has more students in that category.

I dare you to stand on the corner of W Hillcrest Dr & N Annie Glidden Rd at midnight for a hour. You will find out very quickly why enrollment is at all time low, and our ranking is at an all time low.

-That YouTube is from the time George Floyd “protests” . AKA excuse to loot throughout the country. Just sayin’….

-That corner you mention with the 7-11 was pretty sketchy when I was there 40++ years ago! 03-lmfao
