NBA Draft Lottery
Of course the Spurs win it and Victor Wembanyama. I was hoping Charlotte would win it sending him to the East, plus Jordan needs a break. Now he’ll be in our division and the West gets even tougher.

With the Grizlies luck, the Grizzlies are probably going East ... We have played in the West all the while when the West was by far the best division. Now that the East is rising (Wembanyama not counting yet ) We will be shipped to the East and the East will be stringer for the next 10 years... and we will be saying.. If ony we were still in the West......
Btw--- where are the ones that say the NBA draft lottery is fixed?

RE: NBA Draft Lottery
Brakes need to be pumped on all this Wembanyama being the greatest draft prospect in history. How many times have we all seen this story before? I wouldn't even be surprised to see the Spurs hold him back for a couple years and keep him in France while his body continues to mature. I agree he passes all of the eye tests, but no one can look into a kids heart and know how he'll compete after his first big pay day, or after he gets knocked to the ground, or how he'll respond the first time a news article bashes him. I had a point guard on one of my high school teams who was a sure bet and about to get scholarship offers from all over the country. Over Thanksgiving break his senior year he went ice skating and blew his knee out. He never could develop the confidence to come back, no matter how much I tried to inspire him.
I hope Wem does well. I'm a texan now and the Spurs are my 2nd team. But I'll never believe the hype around a player until they are 5 seasons deep and make it to that 2nd contract and are still improving as a person and player.

In win now culture I don't see that happening. I forgot that was a thing. Draft a player and they continue playing overseas. Don't remember the last time I saw that. I think our division needs to be more competitive to prepare us for the playoffs.

I think leaving a player overseas is more for 2nd round picks & late 1st round picks of playoff teams who need to delay adding players to roster.
Especially when the team is not 100% sure said player would get significant minutes.
You would not leave a top 10 pick overseas.

But he is the greatest draft prospect in history. Saying that isn't saying he's guaranteed to be a great player

When is the last time the next big thing in the NBA was a bust?
not the #1 pick but a "can't miss" prospect?
