This is not only the type of hire I wanted but also probably the best that could have realistically been anticipated.

I'm highly optimistic.

Outstanding hire. It would be great to have a competitive program.

Said this a couple months ago. Hire a coach from small school that knows the Midwest. I hope he leaves for greener pastures in the next 3 seasons because it means the program has done that well.

That’s a great hire, guys. Local recruiting networks, winning big at lower level, etc.

Frankly, on paper at least, this is a terrific hire. Local guy (Des Plaines), who pitched in Illinois in college (ISU), has been a recruiting coordinator in Illinois, and a very successful D2 HC (131-38). Exactly the ideal candidate for us.

Now let’s just hope it works.

Sounds like it might be officially announced tomorrow.

I really like this hire. Whether you like STF or not, for the last 4 years he made some astute hires.

He also seems to straighten out the paperwork processing at the HR department also.

This does look like a good hire, fingers crossed. Offering a winning D2 coach is not rocket science, still very excited for STF to go.

I here what you are saying Filmaker, but to sell a winning Div. 2 baseball coach on NIU that has Div. 3 level talent and JUCO facilities is not easy.

Let's not go overboard. He replaced the baseball coach he had hired. He replaced the women's soccer coach he had hired. A significant group on The Dog Pound still argue that he should replace the football plus men's and women's basketball coaches he hired. He's the same person who extended Marc Montgomery's contract. There are more than a few on here who would like to see him replaced. So you believe replacing his prior poor selections now makes him an astute hirer? Last but not least, what is your evidence that he has "straightened out the paperwork process?"
Let's just hope he actually has finally gotten some things right. Go Huskies.

All he said was he’s made some good hires over the last few years. Also, who wants Burno replaced? They’re delusional.

I said the last 4 years have seem to be good hires. The men & women soccer coaches seem to point those 2 programs in the right direction. The VB coach seems to bring in some experienced transfers. Burno is going in the right direction. And I still like the Coach Ham hire.

As far as the paperwork comment, it was an old joke to when Burno was hiring his assistants. It was 4 months before they were introduced. Someone said that it takes awhile to hire athletic coaches because NIU HR Department was loaded with paperwork.

Do you think he would come to NIU without expectations of better facilities?

Do you think he would come to NIU without expectations of better facilities?

From what I heard from players and parents was, they promised the last guy and team a new stadium and facilities by the time they graduated. Of which many of them did, and now we are only starting to see marginal improvements.

Our stadium is still HS 6A quality. The new field is nice.

You think STF showed him the Master Plan?

"Look at how amazing this all is"

"What is the timeline?"

"Soon...(hoping to get a new job before then)"
