We are still officially in CUSA until the end of the month.

At this point, a distinction without a difference.

A definite step up. Tulane prove that.

For the next 19 days, we will be nominally in CUSA, competing in nothing. Then we will be in AAC for nearly two months, before we compete in anything.

Just a name change July 1.

There is quite the media blitz in production.
Don't know if they're holding stuff back for unveiling on 1 July.

Except for the women, Rice hasn't really competed in anything in years.

FTR, Rice's women swimmers competed in the AAC this past season, finishing 4th in the conference tournament (https://theamerican.org/documents/2023/2...id=12231).

But they would were first if you don't consider the points from the three diving events (1-Meter, 3-Meter & Platform) in which Rice doesn't compete.

Conference meet points:

1) UH ... 1,311.5
2) FIU ... 1,300
3) SMU .. 1,208.5
4) Rice .. 1,136

Swimming events only:

1) Rice .. 1,136
2) SMU .. 1,124.5
3) FIU ... 1,111
4) UH .... 1,000.5

"Rice baseball is diamond royalty." ?????

I think the Owls were dethroned around 2018, and have been in the dungeon since then. Let's hope Cheito can turn it around despite the steep climb back to respectability, much less "diamond royalty", and obstacles, i.e., NIL.

It was nice to see they included Gritman's catch in Omaha!

It would be nice if we can change the links for cusabbs and CUSA team talk to AAC ones. The CUSA board is now talking about CUSA 4.0

Yeah, I'm ready for the AAC. I now go first to the AAC board, and only go through the CUSA one to get to the Parliament page.

I sent a PM and there was no response.
Hope that we'd move on the calendar date of entry without a response has been dashed.
Waiting is...

RE: Why still in Conf USA
While perusing our new digs in the AAC on this board, I decided to shift my search from "most posted school" to "most viewed thread" within the Parliament.

That took me to the "Consolidated realignment thread" that was last updated in 2013.
The final page had a bunch of people thanking Hambone for an update, and his post is found at this penultimate page, at the very bottom.
The responses are on the final page.

Compare a decade ago with now.
How much has changed?
How much has not?

Rice ended up landing the Hail Mary of all time with the AAC invite.
Rice still hasn't done what Rice needs to do to be competitive in the money sports.
