The writer offers nothing more than wishful thinking. Perhaps he should write a column explaining all the additional investments that would be required to make the jump and maintain spending levels.

I get the feeling some sportswriters believe CUSA is still on its last legs and will instantly add anyone who calls the league office, out of sheer desperation.

I've said it before, I like McNeese. They were a great conference mate for us 20 years ago, and the Cowboys were a relevant FCS program as recently as about 10 years ago. They have a great fan base.

But no. They're not ready. Not this year, not next year. Probably not for another 5 years at best. Realistically, they're probably 10 years off, if they made a solid commitment to improve their situation starting today.

McNeese enrollment-- LESS than 5,800 (2,400 males)

SHSU------------------- 21,600 (projected to GROW to 30,000 by 2030)

One of these things is NOT like the other...

Just "rah-rah" talk in that published opinion column.

By the way--FYI--that new press box is being paid for by insurance due to hurricane damage--that 31 million was NOT funded by boosters or the university.

Last FCS playoff appearance--2015-lost in their first game to SHSU.
