Go back to Mizzou as an assistant after being the fear coach for 22 years? Doubtful, even if he doesn’t get this job.

That was a terrible choice to begin with

Hope they do better this time, all we are doing is getting more and more irrelevant in baseball.

One year rebuilding a long-term mediocre to bad program doesn’t deserve that assessment. Jackson had his team playing well at the end of the year for the talent he could get in a short recruiting window and the haul looked really good for next year.

Improve your insults.

Why leave Dallas and gamble everything you have just to go to Memphis?

And there's your answer right there. No one in the University has ever been willing to invest in baseball. The powers that be never viewed it as a revenue generating sport. It's just kind of there because ... well, it just has to be.

If you want to play with the big dogs, you got to invest and that's been this university's problem. They just want to sit around and wait to get invited to a larger conference. It's nothing but down right laziness. If it didn't generate revenue then why invest in it is how they looked at it. How long did it take to get them to even start investing in football and they are still miles behind and getting passed every year by other universities.

There are little kingdom's at the university and no one wants to let go over their kingdom. So, it will continue to sputter along until either there is a change of leadership or it just fades into a memory. You can give till you're broke and I can assure you that it will never change until someone with real leadership and a vision takes over and crushes all those kingdoms and gets everyone on the same page.

It's not the state's fault, so quit blaming them. It's been the culture of the university ever since the early 70's. Memphis had so much opportunity to move above and beyond, but it was easier to just sit there and watch everyone pass on by and then hope that one day our name would be called. Hate to tell you, but hope is not a strategy. There was no plan. Oh, it was talked about and committee's were formed. But there was never any real leadership or no action taken until it was too late. The same people who still want to control it all are the ones playing in the orchestra on the deck of the Titanic while it was/is sinking.

They did play better towards the end of the year, that was promising. But only because AAC was pitiful in baseball this year. And he was still less that .500 in league play. I would be glad to have had him back but I wasn't ready to crown him either. And now he books after only one year. What loyalty, but that's sports now days.

He came in late…lost the best pitcher on last years staff to transfer… lost 7 of top 9 hitters… and still finished the season better than the prior year. Too, his 2024 class stood to be one of the better recruiting classes in recent memory.

There is a reason Mizzou came calling.

Right now, where do you think the University of Memphis should be paying their baseball coach?

Damn this is a huge loss. Veatch has made excellent hires during his tenure. Let's hope he can find another replacement to keep rolling what coach Jackson got moving. Wish him well and much success, also he looks back in 10 yrs or so and wishes he had stayed here.

I agree, he had the program trending up, way up.
