This whole thread is ridiculous.

Emoni is an EMU alumnus. I would certainly think a thread about him is EMU related. It's no different than mentioning any of the other professional athletes that are EMU alums. Heck, there's even been a lot of talk about Noah Farrakahn on some threads and he chose to play for a different university. The only person a group of you regularly and consistently object to being mentioned seems to be Emoni.

I think we were all underwhelmed with last seasons results, but hate him or love him, he made EMU basketball must watch for a year and created buzz. Some of us appreciate it and still root for him and want to discuss him. When I see a thread about Emoni, I click on it because I want to read about him. Not to read 45 posts from the same handful of people talking about how much they hate him but "don't really care." We get the point, you hate him, because if you were truly indifferent toward him, you wouldn't repeatedly post the same nonsense. Not every thread and every post needs to be replied to. Instead of hijacking these threads and having the same stupid arguments each and every time, maybe don't click on the thread titled "Emoni Bates" if you hate him. Maybe let some of us have a small portion of this board to discuss a topic relevant to our university that we find interesting. Just a thought.

These are all good points but you fail to account for some people just being big ol' dumb dumbs

I know, this thread is like 26 pages. How much of it was discussion on Emoni Bates NBA prospects,, how much of it was other things.

How about next time there is some Emoni Bates NBA news, who ever posting it creates a new thread. And we start the topic fresh (again).

As far as the Noah Farrakhan posts at West Virginia Swoop’ mentions above, that was probably me. I tend to follow these players when they leave. Some of it rooting for former players. Some of it curious to how they fair elsewhere as a comparison/evaluation of our own program. I was just using the Noah posts as an example and pointing out that no one gets pissy when you mention those people. All the hate just seems focused on one guy. I like to follow all the guys that played here, even if they've moved on to other schools or the pros.

To be completely fair, there was a small minority of people--Super at the forefront, who were pretty disparaging of Emoni Bates before he played his first game--so the old, "he's selfish or he plays olay defense or he's not a team guy" excuse doesn't hold water. Miraculously, the criticism of Emoni all but evaporated after the Michigan game...but came back strong after the Bradley game and never left. These are just facts.
