I would assume that's a strong possibility. Cook's contract was a major issue, but if they weren't comfortable with Debo I can't imagine they'd go through with the release.

Mattison will be the lead back but Deebo definitely has a path to NFL viability now. Mattison is good but he’s never done anything to really stand out IMO, and he’s not super young for a running back either.

DeWayne McBride signed a 4 year, $3,950,404 contract with the Minnesota Vikings, including a $110,404 signing bonus, $110,404 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $987,601.

Man I wouldn’t turn down that money but he sure isn’t guaranteed anything more than his signing bonus. If he gets cut, I will conservatively say he cost himself at least $250,000 in money that he could have gotten in the portal and I think he easily would have gotten more than the signing bonus to return to school at UAB.
