A new Civil ConnFlict
Just wondering if there is an appetite for a new Civil ConnFlict between UConn and USF? I think they played continuously for nearly 15 years between their time in the BigEast and AAC. Both could use the trophy as a marketing tool for the casual fan to take notice of them. Both will get hard looks in the next phase of expansion and could be more valuable as a rival pair.

Shouldn't you be spending your energy trying to detonate the ACC?

UConn should just announce it without notifying USF, like they did to UCF. And get a better trophy. This wouldn't pass for an 8th grade CYO football championship.

RE: A new Civil ConnFlict
I was gonna say, wasn't the Civil ConFLiCT an imaginary made up rivalry between UConn and UCF? I am not sure if I ever understood this, but it looks like the CT in conflict came from Connecticut and FL came from Florida. So does that mean the con in conFLiCT stood for Central?

If I got all that right, would a new rival series with USF and UConn be called the Civil SonFLiCT?

Or maybe the Civil Suckfest, am I right?

Didn’t one rivalry stop calling themselves the Civil War to promote inclusivity & diversity? So no, this is DOA & not very tolerant

UConn should relegate to FCS and focus on its Rhode Island rivalry.

USF has a new rivalry with FAU.
FAU Basketball is coming off a Final 4 appearance.
FAU Football hired Tom Herman and is recruiting well.
FAU has had on On-Campus Stadium since 2011.
USF has never won a conference championship, FAU has won 3 albeit a low level.

That trophy reeks of quality. The "conFLiCT" post-it note at the top is a really nice touch.

Wow some of you don’t even realize you’re talking about the wrong school. The conflict the OP is talking about isn’t with USF but with UCF. Hell the picture on the trophy shows the Golden Knight helmet for crying out loud.

Oh and yes UConn should either stay independent or move to FCS level. I just don’t see them getting picked up unless the ACC gets slaughtered to where most the bigger name schools move on and they are then invited.

Oh well it’s Central Florida not South Florida who UConn was trying their best to make a rivalry out of.

Hilariously pathetic but that's Bolshevik Oregon.

I'd like to see the Keg of Nails (Louisville-Cincinnati) brought inside one league. My personal rooting interests are with the ACC, but it's a fun game anywhere.

Just sad recognition that the American Civil War is not yet the old-news, sepia-toned, receding-archaic-past thing it really ought to be by now. Godspeed the day.

Fortunately, Oregonians have great state symbols to work with. They can be more original.

Thunder Egg (state rock)
Oregon grape (state plant)
Sunstone (state gem)

Thunder Egg... that sounds like football!

As a Bearcat fan I would like to see that Keg back in Cincy. IIRC Ville won the last 2 games both in OT.

That's the best trophy.

Not an opinion. Objective fact. ; )

Florida is not handcuffed by extreme political correctness like Oregon is, not sure if Connecticut is that extreme yet, but they are the ones that slapped the label on the trophy, so I think the Civil ConnFlict could live on in name.

I’ve yet heard a UConn or USF fan comment on this idea. No it’s not a primary rivalry game, but it’s a game if marketed right could have more than the ordinary amount of juice.

Does anyone know what ever happened to that trophy? Did some cleaning crew just throw it away when UCF left it on the sidelines after the game?
