RE: Jeron Williams
I would dispute the 2nd baseman getting first team all defensive team. Or maybe I just saw the handful of games where he was below average defensively.

Pike and (just forgot the 1st baseman's name) are picked for 2nd team and McAninch gets 1st team as a reliever. He had one helluva stretch run at the end of the season. Went from about a 4.00 ERA and finished around 3.05. Relieved two days in a row and ended up throwing right around 100 pitches in those two games - as a reliever only. Good indication of how hard it was to go to the bullpen at all. And the starters were marginal as well. I don't know how you can get pitching talent in quickly. Their best starting pitcher transferred in from Virginia Tech and has another year. Get a couple more transfers and hope some of the younger guys develop faster. Didn't see much of the youth coming on in relief and showing above average fastballs or good breaking stuff. I see the program dropping down again since it is unlikely (it would seem) that Jeron Williams comes back to Toledo. I could see him transferring just about anywhere he wants if order to get bank on any NIL deals for baseball that exist. College baseball cards? Or he will try to graduate early and sign after the MLB draft to get his career going in the minors. Money talks and now its available for the taking if you want to leave and go elsewhere. He's got a quick bat, great speed, fields well, but has an erratic arm thowing over to first - albeit a strong, erratic arm. Hits for power and average at lower level college baseball conference (among DI schools). Still has the talent to get a shot at the show.

Toledo had pitching transfers this year. One each from Tulane, Ohio State, Indiana and Va Tech. Noah Johnson (VA Tech) was really the only one to do much. He was probably UT's best pitcher until he was injured late in the season.

That is awesome! Who was the last All-American outside of Meyers in the AD?

There was a very good woman runner a few years back...

Quinyon Mitchell in football last year.
Chris Meyers in baseball the year before
Janelle Noe in track 2018

were I believe the most recent.

Let's not forget Quinyon Mitchell made several All American teams as a Soph, including 3rd
team AP.

RE: Jeron Williams
Have to wonder if Williams will be back for his senior year. Will probably depend entirely on where he gets drafted. Good power, good glove, hits for average, has elite baseball speed, strong arm that can be erratic at times. One of only 2 players in the NCAA that had +80 hits and +40 stolen bases. I'd have to believe he gets drafted around 6th to 8th round. Has a quick bat but no idea how well he hits good breaking stuff. Struck out a fair amount.

Second team AA says a lot. Never really know how much good young talent is coming up in the Carribean and Central American regions. They tend to develop early and see a lot of really good pitching starting when they are 14-15 years old. Get to play year round - and they do.

I'd be very surprised if he returns, he'll get a solid signing bonus if he is drafted in the first 8-10 rounds, which he almost certainly would be given accolades and abilities, and in the VERY small chance he doesn't, a team in the SEC or Big 12 will write him a NIL check big enough to get him to transfer down there for a year.
