Ex-Blazer Marsh coaches first WNBA win
Congratulations to former UAB Blazer and Birmingham-Southern Panther Tyler Marsh for coaching the defending WNBA champ Las Vegas Aces to a season-opening 105-64 win vs. the Storm as acting head coach Saturday in Seattle.
Marsh played at UAB in 2006-08 and Birmingham-Southern 2008-10 and coached alongside his father at Alabama A&M in 2017-18.
He joined Becky Hammon’s staff before last season’s championship season. Here are his other coaching stops (via an Aces release):
Before joining the Aces, Marsh served as an assistant coach/player development with the Indiana Pacers under Nate Bjorkgren (2020-21) and Rick Carlisle (2021-22).
Before his time in Indiana, Marsh was the assistant video coordinator and player development coach for the Toronto Raptors, winning the NBA championship in 2019 alongside head coach Nick Nurse.
He also spent three seasons as an assistant coach in the G League with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (2016-17), the Bakersfield Jam (2014-15) and the Iowa Energy (2013-14) and won a league championship working on Nurse’s coaching staff with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (2012-13).
Marsh will also serve as Las Vegas’ acting coach at the Aces’ next game Thursday in Los Angeles before Hammon returns for Vegas’ home opener and ring ceremony on May 27.
It’s always great to see former Blazers doing well!

Didn't just win his head coaching debut, his team set the league record for margin of victory in a season opener. Good to see he's doing well and that he was able to fly his dad and family in for the game.
