Memphis has chosen the "play a tough schedule and hope to win" route to increase NET. The other general route for a better NET is to schedule an easier schedule and win by a lot.

IMO, it will be critical for the Tigers and for the AAC to perform well in OOC to boast the Tigers NCAA Tourney profile and to improve the AAC's opportunity to field three or four teams in the NCAA tourney.

The home schedule will probably get one or two p6 games as well.

Well to bring it back around to the AAC they knocked Rice down from 2nd best all-time, set the day before… (not to mention AAC alums UConn)

Quote:Shifting to the women’s tournament, LSU-Rice topped the opening day slate with a 0.46 and 762,000 on ESPN — trailing only UConn-Mercer on ABC in 2022 (767K) as the most-watched opening round game since at least 2010.

meh, only if they are good. My guess is that they will be next season but then Chris Beard will be sufficiently rehabilitated(albeit still a spouse beating douche) and will get one of the massive jobs opening next year. Three Blue Blood jobs very likely open next year....Indiana, Kentucky, and UCLA.

Maybe discussed elsewhere and I missed it. What’s up with this quote about Temple from today’s Wall Street Journal?

From the article “The Legal Sports Gambling Backlash Is Here”

“The controversies have extended into the collegiate ranks as well. In the buildup to March Madness—the biggest sports-betting event in America—the Temple University men’s basketball team was flagged by prominent gambling watchdog firm U.S. Integrity for suspicious wagering activity on its games.”

Temple had 2 games in a row with suspicious last minute betting that caught the eye of regulators. Where that went, if anywhere, hasn't been publicized, AFAIK.

So the Elite Eight is set
ACC=3 schools
BigTen 2
SEC=2
Big East=1

Not a good result for the Big12 trying to brand itself as the best basketball conference
