I'd bet SBC wins half of those...

I bet we don't, but I hope we do.

S Ala would be a nice win for us versus the top preseason rated AAC school (Tulane).

Two wins would be solid.

Three wins would be a ton of high fives.

If forced to pick ...I'd say Army, UCLA, and Tulane go down...and many high fives ensue

Hard to say what happens with VT/ODU given how bad both were last year, but I'd be more inclined to bet the under than the over on points.

ODU's QB sounded like a similar deal to UVA, some lower FCS backup IIRC. Fordham I think?

Maybe Oduh can win 3-0. That'd be perfect.

This hurts:

Quote:Solomon Vanhorse and Abi Nwabuoku-Okonji sustained serious injuries and both possibly out for the season.

Kromah going to have to do double duty probably. Some time inside, and some outside which is his natural and preffered position anyway.

Which means, time for Tucker to shine.
He got some reps Saturday and looked ok to me. He’ll need to step up now.

Van horse? Damn. Kid can’t catch a break

RE: 2023 Sunbelt Football Season
Okonji hurts the D-line depth and JMU could struggle on that unit as the year progresses if other guys get nicked up or injured. For now they will be okay and need some luck to avoid injuries in that unit for the remaining 11 games.

VanHorse cannot be replaced. He was so good receiving out of the backfield 2 years ago when healthy and had the vision to be a huge threat on kick returns and punt returns. Whoever takes his positions will be a step down in ability.
His injury makes me sad because I really enjoyed watching his elite skills.

In 2 more years JMU will have a fully recruited FBS roster and have many more talented players waiting on the depth chart to step right in with little drop off. Right now, they aren’t as deep as they need to be which should be expected during the transition to FBS.
Growing pains.

We've been landing some recruits who are "FBS caliber", even before we had our first season really. Guys like AB had G5 offers.

On the flip side, I think the general level of recruit we land from now on will go up even further. We've been recruiting with one hand tied behind our backs with the 2 year transition and no post season.

Next year we are fully eligible for CCG, Bowls, and CFP comes online. That will make a difference to some recruits, especially for transfers who maybe have one or two years left. It's amazing we landed players like Centeio when we did.

Could be that long if transfer rules change back to something that is more sensical, but Cig said he turned 35%-40% of his roster from last year with the current rules. If you do that every year then JMU gets to full power quicker especially if younger, less talented players transfer out and JMU continues to pull in seasoned transfers.

Another one with game by game predictions. Overall I tend to agree with how they are saying the season plays out

I don't see 9-3.

The passing related unknowns leave me at a 8 or 7 win season.

Very unpredictable with all the games I see as relatively close.

I'd be very happy with a 9 win season.

i totally see 9-3.

I think McCloud is going to be great. and we are absolutely loaded everywhere else, except WR.

but i trust the coaches and the QB's to devise a scheme and execute it to help the WR's.

defense is going to be nasty.

I always had faith in McCloud 02-13-banana04-cheers

ESPN game predictor, you are favored to win only 4 games this year? They predict you to go
4-8?

If you guys go 4-8, SB has no choice, but to send you to CUSA to brush up on your skills!

This dipshit John is eerily quiet lately

12 Bowl games, it would really help to have all of the conference do well in the games. Pick up 7 or 8 bowl victories, and the credibility for our conference increases.

If Dukes finish strong with 12 victories, it would line us up for top 3 in the Group of 5 to start next year.

The more I think about it, these fifth OOC games are really important in setting the tone for which G5 conference is perceived strongest going into next season. It’s just as easy to spin the SB east is full on teams without a winning record rather than an absolute meat grinder, especially when an “FCS call up” boat raced the conference these last two years. I promise you that is how some of these nerds with P5 bias view the fun belt.

i had us 10-2 in preseason, losing to Troy and losing to Coastal.

I'll never have us losing to Coastal again. Ever.
