Memphis is still near top of G5 list. So 3 options...
1) Big 12 expands with 4 C's....ASU, AZ, Utah, CO....and all hell breaks loose.
2) PAC stabilizes with new tv deal....and Big 12 decides to be patient and wait for PAC 12 breakup down the road.
3) PAC stabilizes with new tv deal....and B12 decides to proceed with expansion with some combo of Memphis, UCONN, SDSU, UNLV to get to 14-16.
I still contend it would be best if PAC adds SDSU/SMU. It would eliminate 2 expansion competitors for Memphis.
Also really surprised Boise and USF still not in that top group.
I would assume that Boise, ID just doesn't have the tv market and is way the heck out there for travel. BYU at least has that Mormon base. This current schools map for the Big12 (minus Texas and OU leaving) has Boise, ID cropped out!

Expanding is always for money, so if they have the Orlando market, they'd probably like to expand to a market not so close and where they currently don't have a footprint. Orlando to Tampa is about 1.5hr drive.

I have a good source that tells me we are the #2 team on the list to be joining a P5 conference, on the next round of movement. It's a lock!

This is why I am looking forward to a possible ACC shake up. It’ll be another 6-12 months of “insiders” claiming we are getting in a watered down ACC with Wake, BC and Pitt only for us to end up back in the same gabage league we’re in now. Well, minus FAU, ECU and FAU who move up

Super but are you sure about #2. There is a good chance we aren't #2 to move up among the members of the American. Anyway the lock part is probably true if it is past tense and followed by out.

Dellenger is definitely one of the more trustworthy journalists when it comes to stuff like this. At the least it helps give us a good idea where we currently stand which sounds like one of the top 3 G5s. If 72 teams is the cutoff for a P2/M1 then that's where we need to be.

RE: SI article on P5 expansion
The ONLY way to fix college sports is to basically start over
1) do away with NIL
2) Do away with the transfer portal
3) Go back to the old days where (The compensation to the athletes is a free education)---If they don't want to play college the screw it--let them try to go pro----no more pay to play period
4) To achieve the above you have to have an organization that will enforce the rules equally (LOL good luck)
5) If a coach breaks a rule -they pay the price also----a stronger show clause -longer suspension --and monetary fines--and loss of salary
6) If school had knowledge or was involved in anyway cover ups etc etc -----harsh loss of $$$$ from conference and severe penalties ----repeated offences resulted in some sort of death penalty
If all of the above were truly enforced--we would have our college sports back

Out of all the unintelligent nonsense you come up with (and all of it is), easily the most ridiculous nonsense is how you somehow see yourself as a Conservative. Your post is the exact same opinion that a woke, liberal, socialist, communist. marxist.
That's what you are, Simple Jack.

My fear, if the ACC breaks up, the Big12 then raids the ACC and Memphis is still on the outside.

No I don't think so----I think it came from far far north----that source has been PREDICTING that for years----however the verbiage has now changed since we were not #2 on the list last go round------NOW the new verbiage is " we will be impossible to leave out when the next domino's fall".
Sorta like the change in verbiage from global warming--to climate change------from pyramid to network marketing

Haven’t you been paying attention? We are better off not being in the P5.

If that happens then Memphis should join forces with the leftovers.

If PAC stabilizes and they add SDSU/SMU. This could get REAL interesting on the Big 12 front.
I think Yormark wants to expand again and has a itchy trigger finger. Wants to make his mark.
This news this week from Ross Dellinger was huge on the Memphis front. This is far from over.

...and the news is the SD ST exit fee TRIPLES on July 1st---things could move fast
SD St and SMU going to the PAC could be huge
I hope the 4 corners stay put in the PAC

As a UConn fan, I wholeheartedly agree. If the Pac-12 stays intact and grabs SMU and SDSU, the three top candidates for Big 12 expansion are UConn, Memphis, and UNLV.
