Lot of talk about the portal and Dilfer basically saying P5 coaches are actively trying to poach our players (which we knew). Dilfer was also on Rick & Bubba, but they haven't posted the podcast yet.
Also, nice to have a coach actually playing in the golf tournament. AK doesn't golf, I don't think Clark played, Ehsan doesn't golf, and McGee doesn't golf. I think Haase played a couple of times, but Neil Callaway was our last football coach I remember playing in it.
RE: Trent Dilfer Jox Interview From Regions Tradition
Too bad Saban ain’t involved this year so TD can ask him how Jaylen had an unofficial visit set up to Tuscaloosa the day after entering the portal when bama wasn’t listed as being involved. Also, how every sports site in Bama already had an article on Jaylens visit before anybody knew bama was involved.
Anyhow, hope he ends up at FSU.

Agreed. And I like the sales pitch on staying. We can't compete with that type of NIL money, but maybe he can sell a better long term outcome via getting more reps/snaps.
RE: Trent Dilfer Jox Interview From Regions Tradition
Looks like lots of non-UAB folks need to take a reading seminar class. Poor reading comprehension they have.
Point: UAB won’t compete for new recruits via NIL. He’ll only use NIL opportunities on UAB players who earned it and are being tampered with before ever entering the portal.
As if they didn’t spend the last month gushing over Jaylen Key, from UAB. acting like they have no idea what he’s referring to…

Same. That’s the only way to deter guys from leaving. Seeing those that do, fail at their new school. Don’t care how petty that makes me. He’s likely the 3rd guy we’ve developed over the last decade that will be drafted at another school, and they’ll get credit for it. Its bullish..

Kris Moll is another guy that played at a P5 team that went 11-2 and was 2nd in the Pac12 - Washington. But we all remember that he had trouble finding a landing spot in the transfer portal until the last minute.
But with Key, it seems to be tampering for sure. I would be okay if he went back home and played an extra year at FSU, but going to Bama just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
And as y'all say, if he doesn't get any playing time, then people may think that UAB's best players aren't that great player (because of their SEC bias), but if he does play and get great minutes (see Moll), then we may have trouble retaining players.
Speaking of star players leaving to go to SEC, UTSA's WR, Zakhari Franklin, transferred to Ole Miss the other day. I remember Jeff Traylor complaining about P5 tampering at the end of last season too...

RE: Trent Dilfer Jox Interview From Regions Tradition
Reading between the lines it was tampering all the way. He has commented in multiple interviews about other teams, trying to poach our players and the players ratting them out. Even mark ingram discussed on the Tony Kurry interview at a certain P5 school was trying to poach basketball players during warm-ups.
