UCF isn’t the same university it was 20-30 years ago. It’s more a reflection of what they’re accomplished as a university than anything else. The school has tripled their enrollment since I lived there in the 90s.

UCF has the second largest enrollment in the country now I believe.

The only thing that would make the SB attractive is if Memphis got an invite to the BE. Rumored that the next BE contract will pay $8-10M per team/yr. That's more than we get all sports in the AAC. And actually the SB pays currently about $2M per school & there is considerable debate that the SB will be very competitive for the CFP slot going forward.

Yep this is what I've been thanking about too. The Big East needs to add another school in order to keep TV audiences engaged with the league. Apparently viewership of the league has been going down lately.

Yeah that plays a huge part as well.

It appears we would have to trod UConn’s path and go independent in FB or jettison FBS status. Neither option appeals to me while hope remains of obtaining a playoff berth. At some point, one must recognize futility, but we are not there yet, IMO.

Lol I'm not saying we should be in the AAC.

The downward spiral of Memphis athletics has begun. Sunbelt would not change that but it would hasten the inevitable. Being stuck in a conference with UNCC is one serious buzzkill. Less than 10,000 at that game. Ole Miss is going to start getting one check that will cover their entire athletic budget plus 30 million...let that sink in for a minute. And the big dogs...athletic budgets could hit in excess of 200 million a year.
