As long as AR-15's are legal, these events will remain tragic and utterly predictable. We all know what side of the isle is allowing these slaughters to continue.

From my perspective, even we make guns illegal, pscycopaths will find a way to kill innocent people.

This stuff doesn't happen in other countries. Are you saying that only America has psychopaths? No one is saying ban guns, just AR-15's which can mow down a lot of people very quickly. The reason this insanity only happens here day after day after day is because people have easy access to automatic weapons of war. There can be no debate.

I agree with. Zbob.

When I was growing up, disputes were settled with fists. Now, they go to the car for a gun.

People who say that people who want to kill will be able to find a gun once they are banned are stupid and shouldn't have an opinion
Why?
Australians said the same thing. But Australians who want to commit mass murderer with a pistol or assault rifle can't.
Why?
An ar-15 here cost about $800
An ar-15 in Australia is about $32000
(both of those numbers are in USD)

$1000 is a hell of a different story than $32000
Most people can spend a $1000
Most can't spend $32000

This is just from a cost perspective
You literally can't commit these vile acts if guns are banned

I am personally of the belief to not possess weapons. I know not everyone agrees. Truth is probably in the middle… I don’t understand what compels people to do such things. I obviously condemn theft, rape, vengeful assault/murders, etc. But what is the motivation/benefit to kill randomly? What do they get out of it?

There's a key difference - A car is designed for transportation and a gun is designed to kill. That difference alone should end the comparison.

I have no problem if you have a rifle for hunting or a handgun for protection. You do not need military grade weapons or an arsenal of ammo to do either. I think you should pay a yearly registration fee for each gun you own. It be a nominal fee but prove you registered the gun. Also you would have to provide proof of insurance for each gun. We do both for autos now. We could the proceeds to buy back some types of guns that I hope will be banned ie assault rifles. There should be a database on how much ammo and what type to flag authorities.

So back in the 1930´s there were no laws for cars
You could go 90 mph (if your car was able to which most weren´t)
ANyways, people were just hitting each other
They were straight up hitting people crossing the road
So the government got together and said we have to fix this
They started off by stating the obvious
Cars can be banned
We have to figure out how to work around the cars
With this in mind they developed stop signs, traffic lights, crosswalks, intersections, speed limits, etc
They made laws that fixed the problem
This may sound like I am arguing the other side and say that guns aren´t the problem
No no, I am telling a story
And stories are a lot better as you contiune

It may sound like america came up with these laws
Since I never said they had an influence
Wrong, these laws were heavily influenced by other countries, specifically in Europe
Europe set the precedent for traffic laws
We followed that precedent
We saw what worked and followed suit
We didn´t just pull these laws out of our metaphorical hind-end
We copied those laws
Why?
Because they worked
Simple as that

So, I am arguing we do what we always have
Steal laws from other nations or groups of people (Example: Democrats famously champion Social Security as if it was their own, it wasn´t. It was actually a 3rd party that came up with the idea and FDR copied it. Even on the Social Security website it says FDR conceived it. Funnily enough, Roosevelt did come up with it, Teddy Roosevelt.)
It obviously works
We also know that other countries are way crazier than the united states
Australia literally had a war against the emu bird|
Germany has stricter laws than we do and they are far crazier than us
They started WW2
All I am saying is your rights aren´t being taken away
Your not giving up freedom
Your allowing society to be a safer place at the expense of a firework launcher
Seriously, if you do support gun right then you know just how important it is to use your gun safely
And right now your giving your gun to any one and everyone
I think that is wildly unsafe and to use your own term ¨unamerican¨

Ramy, it’s because you think rationally and logically which presents such acts as heinous and vile. Unfortunately there is mental illness where people do not think rationally and logically but create delusions of grandeur for vile and heinous acts. We will not ban all guns just like we can’t cure all mental illnesses. Therefore the rational and logical politicians need to come up with a plan in the middle as you say. From my perspective, I don’t think we need AR-15s and we do need better mental health care. Two low hanging fruit items that if implemented would probably lower the craziness we see here in the good ol USA
