RE: EMU Alum Killed in Allen, TX Mall Shooting
Dear dansplaining,
I disagree with your statement that only sports should be discussed on this forum. I've heard hundreds of times from people, we can't discuss religion, we can't discuss politics, we can't discuss race relations, etc.
Yes this is a sports forum, but in the greater scope of life, the least important topic, is, who is going to be the starting quarterback.

I completely agree about that last point. I've been on the internet for a loooooooooooooooooooooooong time and i can tell you forums are terrible places for exchanges of real ideas and fantastic places for exchanges of who would win in a fight goku or superman or if you work out every other day how many days do you work out in a week.

Don't want to disagree with you, but who is going to be the starting long snapper.

Joking aside guys I think its a tragedy when anyone dies a meaningless death - especially an EMU grad but I KNOW this debate is out of the scope not only for this forum but anyone on here as well. Please - lets move on to worrying about quarterback depth or whatever.
Jokes about shootings aren’t funny.
Like I said before.
Victims have real families.
I get you’re a comedian, but this is poor timing on top of poor taste.

I'm not a Trump fan BUT please let's be factual. He has NOT been convicted of anything; convictions only happen in criminal trials, where the burden of proof is greater than a civil trial and a guilty verdict usually results in jail time. Civil judgements are just that, civil judgements with financial obligations attached. For example, DJT really f---ed up the original USFL when the league sued the NFL in civil court. The USFL won the case, the NFL was NOT convicted, but was required to pay damages in the amount of $1 which was trebled to $3. Big win for sure!

BTW, gang. I started this thread not to discussing guns and mass killings but to note that a successful EMU alum was among those victims.

Thank you! I know he has been watching Maxx and is inspired by all he has accomplished. I firmly believe every one of the guys who went to the NFL this year and each of those attending mini-camps was inspired by your son. Having the talent is important...seeing that the vision can be achieved provides focus.

Maxx will appreciate that and I will personally relay the message.
His days at EMU inspired him, and he gave as much as he received. He tattooed the block E on his forearm and wears it with pride. He views his redshirt year, early battles with a much older and larger Andrew Wylie, and subsequent practice squad MVP award as one of the key factors in his success.
I can assure you that Maxx feels blessed and honored if he is in any way responsible for inspiring current or future Eagles.
Your son sounds like he will have a myriad of options on & off the field upon graduation. Nothing greater as a football Father to watch that growth and success.
Kudos to you for raising the young man the right way.

Taking random potshots at WMU? Really? And to clear up a couple of the lies I quoted:
1. Not even close to 90% of our non-sports threads are about a certain disgraced ex-president.
2. From what I can tell, the vast majority of our posters are anti-Trump. There are a few right wingers that try to interject with whataboutism when we talk about him, but that's about it.
As an aside, I like to see that a majority of EMU posters have a reasonable take on the gun violence problem in this country. I agree with you all. I honestly don't see how anyone can ignore the problem at this point.

Thanks for clarifying and I SINCERELY apologize for not vetting out our poster's assessment of your board. I am heartened by your response. Go WMU! I have a brother who's a proud Bronco grad.

Point taken, he was held liable and he is 5 mill lighter. As for the USFL, that was a cool league and really found it's niche. Too bad Mr. S**t for brains f***ed that up.
