RE: RIP Denny Crum
Back in the time of Kirk and Crum, I loved the "Crum's a bum" from our side and the "Kirk's a jerk" from UofL fans.

He was certainly a great coach, and he seemed to truly like Coach Finch.

RIP, coach.

I don't know if he liked Larry but I know he respected him.

I am getting old and I am too lazy to look it up, but if I remember correctly, Larry had a winning record against Denny both as a player and a coach. I think he is the only coach in Tiger history to have a winning record against him.

Sylvester Gray's tomahawk on Pervis Ellison, Dwight Boyd's baseline dunk on Barry Sumter, and the 24-0 lead with Elliot at Freedom Hall are some of my favorite memories of beating the Cards ass while Larry was coaching.

Denny Crum learned under John Wooden.

Some of my fondest memories from college are Tigers-Louisville games at the Mid South Coliseum in the 80's. Wish there was a way to keep this rivalry going. Crum certainly was fun to root against, and he absolutely deserved every honor that came his way.

RIP

RE: RIP Denny Crum
In memory of Big Jack Eaton, I have composed a poem.

We never faced a fiercer foe,
We often told you where to go.
But time has passed and now we know
You really were a decent Joe.

You led some really special kids.
We didn't hate you-okay, we did,
When we played each other for a bid.
It's a shame your school has hit the skids.

So rest in peace, Coach Denny Crum,
Despised by many, loved by some,
Respected by all who weren't dumb,
We know today you're not a bum.

When my son was just a tyke (he is now 50) we had season tickets in the row behind the visitor's bench in the roundhouse. My favorite chant in those days was "Sit down Denny".

This was very much appreciated--and so appropriate! You managed to bring back memories of two legends. Thank you!

I was a kid in the early 80's, he always looked so old then, he was only in his mid-40s during that time, heck, I am older than that now.

Excellent coach. Sad news. Played for John Wooden at UCLA. Coached with Wooden at UCLA. Took Louisville to multiple Final Fours and won two national titles in the 80s. RIP Coach Crum. True Hall of Famer.

I remember Denny Crum from the mid to late 90s.. He was still coaching Louisville by the time I graduated from Memphis in 2000.. What a great rivalry.

The Memphis State vs. Louisville were the top rivalry games in all of college basketball back in the 80's. It was fun watching Crum and Kirk go at each other.
