The baseball trip to Oklahoma State — money games? Otherwise, hope Sander has someone on the red carpet if it cost the Athletic Department a dime!

Let us hope we got paid for that.

RE: Baseball
Does anyone know why the Live Stats on the athletic web site has the baseball team playing Samford tonight at Thomas Stadium? It has the Bucs leading in the 1st inning and has been stuck there all night.

Baseball season starts Friday!!!!
Bucs should have a great offense again. King, Iannatone, Sisneros all back. Plus the Thom is a great hitters park. The JuCo pitchers hold the key to success.
For various reasons last year was the first time in several years that I attended several games and enjoyed them immensely. Weather was great all Spring. This weekend's opponent, Lafayette, is not very good. However, after that it's UT and then Rider, who won a game in the NCAA tournament last year. Rider then lost to Duke in an extra innings game that was one of the best college baseball games you will ever see. The Bucs will see where they are right away. Anything less than 2 out of 3 against Lafayette would be a major disappointment.

I heard the coach say they are heating some of the seating areas at Thomas stadium. Local company doing the installation. Not sure how it works, but apparently this technology has been installed in other stadiums.

How is the SoCon looking in baseball? Where do the Bucs stack up and do you think they have a chance to win the conference?

Samford is picked first. They won a game in the NCAA tournament last year. Mercer is second. The Citadel is picked last. The other 5 are pretty interchangeable.

The league is pretty good at the top; Samford and Wofford both finished the year as top 100 programs. Samford should be very good again, and we'll see about Wofford. Plenty of high-caliber hitters throughout the conference, and ETSU is no exception with Sisneros, Iannantone, Miller, Barth, and King. Looks like they added at least one more really good bat to the mix in JD Yakubinis. The question for every team in the SoCon is pitching depth. Most teams run ERAs in the high 4s and low 5s, if not higher.

I think this team could surprise if the pitching comes together, otherwise be ready for lots of games where both teams score 10+ this season.

We won 27-7 today. Most runs scored in a baseball game that I have personally been at.

8 batters hit by a pitch.
Crazy game but a lot of fun.

As meanmike pointed out, they should take the series against lafayette and they did indeed sweep the series. Good start

RE: Baseball
Rider next weekend will be a good measuring stick. They won the MAAC tournament last year and won a game at Coastal Carolina in the NCAA tournament. If the Bucs can take 2 of 3 that will be a great sign. The Northern teams are at a disadvantage the first couple of weeks of the season as they are constantly on the road, and they likely haven't practiced outside as much as the Southern teams.

RE: Baseball
Bucs had 41 hits, 30 walks and 10 hit batsmen in the 3 games. 81 times on base, not counting the reaching on errors for a cool .526 OBP. Going out on a limb and saying the final OBP for the season will be lower than that. Bucs top 6 hitters match up with anyone in the conference.

Wow! The UT game did not go well.
Hopefully they can take 2 of 3 from a good Rider team.

Rider got off to a good if low scoring start. Bucs win 3-1. Team is now 4-1 on the season.

Saturday game against Rider moved to Sunday the 24th at 11am.

Bucs take the second game with a 5-4 win, and sweep the series with an 11-1 victory in the third game.

RE: Baseball
Anyone know how we got run-ruled at Tennessee? This looks like a pretty solid team, but I would’ve expected something a little closer since the Vols only got past UNC-A 3-2 a few days before. UT is really good, but I thought it would’ve been a little closer. Did we not pitch one of our top throwers? Did they? I know they sometimes do whatever for these mid-week non-conference games, but curious if anyone has more insight.

Yes my questions also! No excuse for not throwing our best pitcher in that game. Not expecting the win but expecting a much better effort. Early season with no conference games upcoming. We should have put our best foot forward.

Week day games you usually start your 4th or 5th best pitcher and have your bottom relievers saving your best 3 for the weekend
