MAC in NFL Draft
Is this thing on?

Let's see...

EMU's Sidy Sow went in 4th Round to the Belichick Bunch

BG's Karl Brooks went Early 6th Round to A. Rodgers' old team

WMU's Zaire Barnes went 5 picks later to A. Rodgers' new team

EMU's Jose Ramirez went later in the 6th to Brady's last team

CMU's Lew Nicholls III in 7th also to the Pack

(Fun note: Right after him, a guy from Northern Michigan got taken, giving all the Michigan directionals a guy taken. Unless there's a Southern Michigan. I can't tell.)

Ball State checked in later with Nic Jones going to the SB champs.

Then UT's Desjuan Johnson gave the MAC some needed pub by being this year's Mr. Irrelevant, going to the Rams.

So. Did I miss anyone? How'd we do? Slim pickings at the top of the draft. Anybody you thought might get taken that didn't? Any of the above have a good shot of having a career? Is the transfer window going to keep the MAC out of the early rounds forever more?

Six MAC schools represented. EMU wins by having two guys.

Thoughts?

Correct me if I'm wrong but former MAC schools Marshall, UCF and UMass had a grand total of zero players taken. This is also true of half the MAC though, but worth noting.

Michigan got God's country in the trade. As far as I have seen, the Michigan schools hate Toledo because "F Ohio."

TBH I claim little Detroit. We have more jn common with SE Michigan than insert major Ohio city, or even wood county for that matter.

I guess I can only speak for myself, but I don't know anyone that hates Toledo, or even Ohio for that matter. The only people I've seen that say they "hate Ohio" are Walmart Wolverines and they only hate Ohio because of a college rivalry for a college they didn't even go to. And the hate is silly, because Michigan and Ohio are similar in a lot of ways. Two very midwestern states. I've always found the haters to be childish.

Observation, all but one of these players comes from the MAC West.

RE: MAC in NFL Draft
The MAC had more draft picks than the Mountain West and CUSA.

Clearly the transfer portal is detrimental to the G5 based off these numbers alone.

Chad Ryland, an EMU graduate, and a 1 season Maryland player got drafted in the 4th round. I would count that as three EMU graduates that got drafted.

Former Broncos Jayden Reed and Chase Brown also drafted. I'll be counting them as MAC players for the entirety of their NFL career. 04-cheers

RE: MAC in NFL Draft
Sounds like the MAC did pretty well. Was concerned when the 1st 2 rounds were pretty much all P5.

In regards to OP: I don't mind getting kicked out of the early rounds as long as we have players drafted at some point.

Unfortunately, due to the portal/NIL those numbers will decline as the MAC will be picked clean of a lot of our top level talent from here on out.
