Probably wise for general perceptions of JMU's fanbase, honestly.

Just out of curiosity- do our message board members actually engage in pissing matches via private messages? Is that really a thing? Do they write strongly worded letters to each other? Asking for a friend.

They should. People disagree and that's cool - they should talk about it and come to understand why each other feels that way. But that is a problem in society because it's easier for some to just say "F u" rather than understand through the experience of another.

Can't help but think this will impact our ability to shop the portal, especially with grad transfers.

As far as dealing with the situation at hand, I really hope the University starts the ball rolling with media pushback on this. It deserves it. Don't meekly accept the decision. And do it before anything comes out from the NCAA. At least force their hand to disclose their idiotic rationale.

I mean it sounds like an interesting approach.

FWIW, here's the statement Keith Gill put out. Sure seems like they disagree with the decision, but aren't inclined to push it.

Yeah, dead in the water. Just a matter of press at this point.

Hahaha! The House of Lords would be proud.
We now return to the House of Commons to deal with that loathsome gaggle from ODU and their trifling matters.

Not sure that commish is going to come out shooting in a statement, but at this point I would think SBC is there for support and JMU will have to push this to get a change which is obviously very unlikely.

Lots of folks here focused on "NCAA"

These committees are made up of other school's ADs. Might be interesting to go look up the committee members that made this decision.

If I was JB, I'd be tempted to call up each and every one of them, and let them know we will not forget this.

Exactly, look to your fellow ADs that make up these committees and you will get your answer. At the end of the day they don't want more seats at the table and will do what they can to push it off and harm the new seat at the table.

It is all self preservation.

If the DNR article was correct, the Division I Board of Directors made this decision. Looks like it was other University Presidents that voted on this. Sometimes the Football Oversight committee also has input on waivers.

I've been saying all along that approval of a waiver is unlikely. I was consistently told I was crazy. I wish I had been crazy.

NO,not entirely. there is room for continued appeal to the " governance" board which is supposedly there to look out and protect the Student Athlete's best interest.
its only dead if we lead it be " dead".
we'll see what we are made of in how we take this INSANE ruling.

We can rest a little easier knowing that Virginia Tech and UVA won’t be going to a bowl either.

Not because of the NCAA, but because they suck.

Some do to not disrupt and trash the board, others bring it back here to piss and whine about it and/or if you appropriately rate the trash comment with a negative. 07-coffee3

Come on JMU go to the mat for your student athletes....don't go away quietly with a tucked tail.

Soft response from the SBC, says nothing. Pay your dues, we’ll keep your share of the proceeds for another year, and please don’t continue beating our bowl eligible folks, it makes us look bad.

JB and JMU should be coming out firing with a venom, no more mister nice guy, what is there to lose at this point.

And that we were 8-3, I wonder if we laid up at the end resting Centeio for Coastal and the mythical King of the East game, if he would’ve played hurt and been 10-1 or 9-2?

Silver Lining

Good News - They will always be teams that don't qualify (six wins), thus open bowl slots. There are every year.

Bad News - You will be one of those teams!

So you have nothing to worry about!
