Exclamation Playing NFL GM
I'm a huge NFL Draft guy. As I prep, study film and mock draft, I notice I haven't seen a prospect from Memphis. So I focused on it and did some research. Seems pretty clear that we won't hear "draft pick out of the University of Memphis" this year.

Did the Tigers even host a Pro Day for players to work out in front of NFL scouts?

I hope there is a Tiger called, for Quindell's sake.

I don't believe so.

Silverfield was touted for his work with Vikings too. I looked back at those coaching staffs. Most are out of coaching now. He still has connections to Cleveland Browns (Kevin Stefanski, Mike Priefer and Bill Musgrave), Dolphins (Darrell Bevell), Steelers (Karl Dunbar). Hopefully he taps those to help the players.

Yes they had a Pro Day and Quindell ran around a 4.52 I believe. That got some attention. He is short for an NFL safety but I fully expect he will be drafted unless there is some health concern. I have seen him anywhere from 4th round to undrafted free agent, but I am betting he is on a roster next year...at least a practice squad. Comes up well defending the run and recovers well enough in coverage. He just seems to have that 'it'.

I don't know that he's undersized. He's 6'1" 206lbs. Here is a list of the top safeties in this year's draft (weak side FS and strong side SS):

Brian Branch S - Alabama - Height: 5 - 11 | Weight: 190
Sydney Brown S - Illinois - Height: 5 - 9 | Weight: 211
Antonio Johnson S - Texas A&M - Height: 6 - 1 | Weight: 198
Jordan Battle S - Alabama - Height: 6 - 1 | Weight: 209
Brandon Joseph S - Notre Dame - Height: 6 - 0 | Weight: 202
JL Skinner S - Boise State - Height: 6 - 3 | Weight: 209
Jammie Robinson S - Florida State - Height: 5 - 10 | Weight: 191
Ji'Ayir Brown S - Penn State - Height: 5 - 11 | Weight: 203
Christopher Smith II S - Georgia - Height: 5 - 10 | Weight: 192
Ronnie Hickman S - Ohio State - Height: 6 - 0 | Weight: 203
Rashad Torrence II S - Florida - Height: 5 - 11 | Weight: 193
Trey Dean S - Florida - Height: 6 - 2 | Weight: 200
Jay Ward S - LSU - Height: 6 - 0 | Weight: 188

You'll probably hear my cheer from Tipton County if he's drafted! One of my most exciting moments in the Draft was when my Jags selected CB Chris Claybrook.

It's funny; I was reading this thread and thinking that if Claybrooks got drafted, Quindell should also. I think he will.

Interesting no draft prospects with the possible exception of Quindell & yet we supposedly have had our best signing classes ever over the last 4-5 yrs. Apparently that is based upon averages rather than measurable or developed skills.

The 2018 class was a small class ranked #81, but had Gibson, Gainwell, Orona, Fields, Ellis, Oladele. The failure of the 2021 class can be traced back to Gunnell, Parrish, Dobbs, Barnett and Kemp not contributing. Henigan has been great. Kemp was the #8 kicking recruit in the country and he along with the rest of our kickers cost us at least 2-3 games.

With all of the injuries the last couple of years, I would think that our last two classes learned on the fly and should be better this year.

If Quindell Johnson gets drafted, I do believe he will be the last player drafted under Norvell's recruiting. Everybody else is on Silverfield's shoulders, if they get drafted after this year.
