As far as scholarship players it looks like G Avery Felts(6-2, 190, RSo) , G Caleb Fields (6, 186, Jr), G Terrance Ford (6-1, 175, Fr), F Izaiyah Nelson (6-10, 212, Fr), F Julian Lual (6-6, 196, So) and G Malcolm Farrington (6-3, 202, RSo) are still on their roster.

All were players their fan base hoped their new coach could keep, especially Feilds, Ford and Nelson.

They have added Buffalo F LaQuill Hardnet (6-8,205, GT) and UMass F Dyondre Dominquez (6-9, 22O, Sr) through the Portal.

G Mak Manciel (6-3, 197, RSo), F Adaaedine Boutayeb (7-2, 226, Fr), G Detrick Reeves (6-3, 200, RSo), G Caleb London (6-4, 200, RFr), and F Antwon Jackson (6-8, 303, Jr) have entered the Portal.

Another good get for new coach Bryan Hodgson.

247 has Forwards Freddie Hicks, Dyondre Dominguez and Guard Darrian Ford as high 3-star's (.8700) in the Portal, so solid gets, but has not rated Laquill Hardnett.

As important as these new players are, it is worth noting that new HC Bryan Hodgson's also landed some other big gets from the Portal that were in their program last year but had entered the Portal with the coaching change.

Only Caleb Fields has been assigned a Portal rating -a high 3-Star (.8900) by ON3 Sports, but true freshmen Forward Izaiyah Nelson, and Guard Terrance Ford are if anything more talented than Fields.

The other returnees- Guards Avery Felts, Malcolm Farrington and Forward Julian Lual, all showed they are solid players last year, and A-State fans are glad to have them back.

Before the late losses of Desi Sills (K-State) and Norchad Omier (Miami), and coming off an 18-11 season in 2021-22, the expectation was that 2022-23 would be a better season. With three scholarships left, and Bryan Hodgson recruiting, there is very good reason for A-State fans to feel that 2023-24 will be what they expected last year was going to be.

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Bryan Hodgson continues to bolster the Arkansas State men’s basketball roster.

6′4″ combo guard Obadiah Curtis committed to the Red Wolves on Tuesday. He played his freshman season at Reedley College in California.



Curtis led the Tigers in scoring and rebounds, he averaged 19 points and 8 boards in the 2022-2023 season. The California native recorded 7 double-doubles. He had a pair of 30 point performances en-route to 1st Team accolades in the Central Valley Conference.

According to The Portal Report, Pepperdine, UAPB, Chattanooga, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Central Washington, and CSU Pueblo were also in pursuit of Curtis.

The consensus was the young A-State team- which was pretty competitive against SBC competition toward the end of the last season, was going to be better in 2023-24, but rather doubt they could beat the new additions on the court.

New HC Bryan Hodgson has done a good job, and has one scholarship to go. Apparently he is looking for a true center, and has a littler NIL money.
