RE: 2023-24 Season
Speaking of return home games, shouldn't we have a home game against Morehead this season?

One would think -- haven't seen anything about it yet, though.

If so, hope BU can shoot the three better than the game against the "Iggles" last season.

RE: 2023-24 Season
Chattanooga schedule has BU playing there on November 14.

Midway College 's schedule has a game at BU on Nov. 21. They also play D1 Murray, Morehead and Tennessee Tech and perennial NAIA power Georgetown. They must be masochists.

Morehead's schedule shows a game at BU on Nov. 20.

You guys probably have already seen it via social media, etc., but the schedule is up:
https://athletics.bellarmine.edu/news/20...23-24.aspx

As usual, the gauntlet should prepare the Knights well for conference play. Among other things, I like the Kansas State game -- nice surprise.

Yes, I had not heard about the Kansas State game. Probably the best team on the schedule. Among the other high major games, there are actually two that I believe we will have a shot at winning. Louisville of course, was horrible last year. They will be a totally new team, but really would be surprised if they come out and play well early in the season and the Yum Center is a familiar place for us to play. I like our chances. West Virginia is a tough place to play, but they have a new coach and a new team, our boys are experienced and should go into Morgantown composed and ready.

Nice road trip to the state of Utah, playing Utah and BYU two days later (which are less than an hour's drive apart). Neither team was great last year. I do know that BYU has a 6'6" 260 lbs true power forward who averaged 13 boards last year. Not the kind of guy we match up well with. (Suder might draw the bulk of that challenge).

I like the mix of mid major non conference games. Should have a good shot at every one of those. I am assuming that we will get return games next season from Chattanooga, Ball State, Bowling Green, and High Point. Of course Morehead and Evansville are return home games from last season. (BTW, doesn't South Dakota owe us one?)

Can't let a post about the schedule go by without my usual request for games against USI and NKU. It has to be in all three schools interest to play each other every (or almost every) year.

My solution? USI, NKY and BU to the Horizon to make 14 in that conference, Currently the Horizon has 11. 02-13-banana

Sounds good to me. Let's make that happen.

Sorry, I know that NJY is already there in the Horizon, They could just take us to make 12 then.

I like being the northern most team in a southern conference rather than a southern team in a Northern conference. Makes basketball road trips in the winter better.

RE: 2023-24 Season
Ok long time no chime(ing).... I do believe this is overall the strongest group of talent we have ever seen. Of course that is Division 1 talent not necessarily the best team... It will be interesting who gets the most time, but each year at least early on in DI I think the freshmen will be better and more talented... i. e, Suder is the most talented B. U. recruit ever until the next year... (exceptions were DI transfers to BU while still D2, I'm thinking Buddy Cox)... While growing the DI program expect each freshman class to be more highly rated than the last. That is growing the program.... That's what Scotty does

Little late to the party, great schedule.
I love Suder but he has a lot to do to surpass the GOAT. Triple/Double is required as well as a NCAA bid.

Also, Kendle/Dowe up at the pantheon. All three pro career validates their status.
Suder not there yet.

Depth, baby (and hoping the Knights can stay healthy this go-round):

Transy tonight, at historic Knights Hall. Among other things, I'm looking forward to seeing McKinney (think his quickness at PG may be "what the doctor ordered"), Smith, and a healthy Wieland.

Rebounding was brutal (BU fans are familiar with that issue), but it's great to see the Knights on the hardwood. And how about Mr. Smith?

RE: 2023-24 Season
Ahh the annual game at Knights Hall that reminds us how much better of an environment it was... I did not leave Knights Hall feeling the best about the game last night. Giving up 19 offensive rebounds to Transylvania does not bode well for when we face bigger and more talented D1 opponents. The game felt sloppy through stretches of it, which was reflected in the 15 turnovers, which will need to be cleaned up quickly.

But not all doom and gloom - Billy Smith looked really solid and I thought Bash had a terrific game, he really has come a long way the past few years. The team shooting numbers ended up fine, although I would have optimistically liked to see the 3 pt % a bit higher since it felt like the Knights were mostly getting good looks for good shooters.

A lot to improve on before a sharp swing in competition level vs Washington in a couple weeks, but hopefully time to get there. Just great to have the Knights back!

I'm not the first one to make this point, but it adds so much when students attend a game. Wish that could consistently happen at Freedom Hall.

Mark your calendars for Feb 17. The EKU home game will be at Knights Hall I believe.

Cool, although they'd get a somewhat larger attendance at Freedom Hall for that one.

That could be an important game, conference race-wise.

Yours truly has zero interest in gambling, but it's interesting to see the "lines" on games. Saw where one book has UW as a 12.5 point favorite over the good guys on Monday.
