With Silverfield coaching, I’ll always guess 6-6 until proven otherwise

RE: Memphis picked 3rd in American on ESPN FPI
Here is some reason for optimism. The team improved from 2021 to 2022 on both sides of the ball.

In scoring offense (points scored per game) they went from ranking #51 in 2021 averaging 30.3 points per game to #22 in 2022 averaging 35.3 points per game.

In scoring defense (points allowed per game) they went from ranking #91 in 2021 averaging 29.3 points allowed per game to #60 in 2022 averaging 26 points allowed per game.

If this improvement continues, and there is reason to think it will with both coordinators returning for their 2nd year and Seth Henigan returning for his 3rd year at qb, the team has a chance to be very good this year.

Agree. Although it's a very light schedule.

And BTW, I'm far from a Tubby lover, but I'm a fan & support the program. All the whining & complaining & regurgitating everything you don't like about Tubby ad nauseum gets very old - especially when the team is clearly better than anything on the floor for Memphis in the last 3 yrs. Tubby's contract hasn't changed since he came to Memphis & yet another thread to complain - all the while recruits we want tell us critical fans discourage their interest in Memphis.....SMH.

As weak as the schedule is ----how could the numbers not improve on both sides of the ball

As weak as the schedule is ----how could our record not improve

As weak as the schedule is ----might as well be playing Walnut/Bolivar/Kingsbury/MIDDLETON

As weak as the schedule is ----sure the fans are certain the numbers and W/L record should improve----but where is the enthusiasm from the fan base

As weak as the schedule is ----hard to get excited when the schedule is so weak.

Would we rather have a worst record but play real teams---does going 8-4 9-3 playing this kind of schedule really build enthusiasm with the fan base ----I wonder how/what the fans of Houston/Cincinnati/UCF think.

Bragging about our numbers and W/L records improving with this weak schedule ----brings to mind the new W/L record and photo of Lia Thomas posing with all the first place trophies

I was impressed with the speed Andrew Jones played with at LB in the opener vs MSU last year. I was surprised he didn’t get much time with the 2nd unit when the guys returned from injury later in the season. Hopefully that is a sign of the depth we have there.

Seriously there is no reason for us to be below .500 in this league now. And I don’t want to hear about lack of NIL when we don’t. These other schools besides SMU don’t have money either

I think we are predicted 3rd in the AAC . Has nothing to with your OOC schedule.
