Figured this was worth bringing to the main page...

Would be the top defensive commit ever at UC and potentially the highest rated overall recruit. I would guess he ends up playing in the same role Deshawn Pace will this season. Puts this class at #2 in the Big 12 and gives us the highest per-commit average ranking of the remaining Big 12 schools so far this cycle. Based on tweets from the staff, this is not going to be the last major recruiting announcement today/this week.

2024 recruiting class is looking very good and Coach Satt and staff appear to have the Bearcats heading in the right direction.

Is he bigger than Kevin Mouhon?

Some of the recruiting services downgraded Mouhon after he decommitted from Tennessee and signed with us. But he had offers from Notre Dame, Florida, Florida State, Nebraska, Penn State, Ohio State, and others. Rivals still lists Mouhon as #209 nationally in 2014.

Birdsong is #172 in composite, so he is higher ranked and he had reported offers from ND and half the ACC and SEC. I'm not certain that Ohio State offer was any more than a buckshot break in case of emergency approach for the Buckeyes for Mouhon.

I don't care where he is rated.

Just as long as he gets in here and puts Dillon Gabriel on his a$$ he'll be OK with me.

Definitely exciting to get such a highly rated kid, and hopefully we can hang on to him.
Highlight tape he looks very athletic. First few plays were explosive, after that he doesnt stay on his feet and does a lot of arm tackling. Like a clone of Deshawn Pace.

I don't think Yogi said, "It's hard to get a hit if you don't get to the plate". Maybe he flips in a few weeks or months. It happens to the best blue blood P5 programs sometimes too. His verbal generated lots of buzz in local media today and often seems a catalyst for other potential high profile recruits to jump on board.

Huge! Big get on the defensive side. This should help the rest of the class even if he doesn’t remain committed.

Yep...took an official visit literally two days after committing to UC, then decommits three days after landing from his OV here. LOL.

This is why I only vaguely pay attention to football recruiting. Too many moving pieces and a verbal commitment essentially means nothing.
