Exclamation Ricky Ciccone to Louisiana Lafayette
Being reported today.

Interesting landing spot since he is a native Ohioan, who spent (I think) his entire playing and coaching career in Ohio. How did Toledo let him get away to down south?

This will hurt recruiting in the short term. We will recover.

I agree. I listened to Bret B's podcast with him and came away so impressed and I learned so much in the 50 minute show. JC has big shoes to fill. Go outside or fill quickly from within? Do we even have someone that can move into that role? Recruiting is key.

Not a big move for him. Must have offered a significant pay increase. As for me, I don't think it is a big loss in the recruiting wars. He had a lot going for him with it being Toledo and the fan base it draws compared to other MAC schools. Past success helps - and so does all the position coaches and the fact Candle has always been a solid recruiter as well.

Blade is reporting UT to hire former assistant Brian Gasser as the new recruiting coordinator. Was at Northwestern last year as a quality control assistant. Spent several years at Akron before that.

While Ciccone did an excellent job this hire might be an upgrade.

Very approachable guy.

We talked recruiting back in 2014/15 and he did love working at Toledo and was obviously passionate about recruiting then as well. Those were the days of going head to head with P J Fleck and the rising WMU program which actually pulled up UT's recruiting.

He is a GREAT HIRE for Rockets!!!! Great news. Welcome back Brian.

Coaching is a crazy profession and resulting career paths.
