I attended today's controlled scrimmage. Just a couple thoughts:

1. Luke Pawlak looks to be #1 PK
2. Dan Bolden dressed and doing light drills
3. V Chairse sidelined by apparently light injury (no cast or boots)
4. Finn & Gleason getting equal rep's at QB
5. Junior Vandeross III getting numerous catches out of slot. He will challenge for a starting spot at WR. He is small but dynamic. Will he slide into Barkley's spot or fill Blankumslee's back-up role. Either way he will get a LOT of catches in '23.
6. Utrockets.com looks to have an accurate roster compared to today's roster hand-out
7. Nice crowd. Virtually all on P-box side as usual.
8. J. Stuart appears to be #1 back again.
9. T. Ford (new edge) in street clothes will apparently minor injury.
10. C. C. Ezirim is a beast at TE. He is every inch of 6'7" and growing. Nice hands. If this kid can run routes and catch he will be a big problem in 2 years.
11. Lots of recruits in attendance.
12. Finns throwing motion appeared to be more fluid and less "short armed". Perhaps it is my imagination but the guy sitting next to me thought the same.

Go Rockets!

Agree about #45 (CC Ezirim) talked with him afterward… Seems like a nice kid, very respectful !!
My stepson teaches down at Dublim Jerome and probably wanted him to be a buckeye…
Looks like closer to 6-8 and at least 250… Played hoops at Jerome as well - very athletic …
CC is one we will mention with a big upside !!
Also, I think RJ Johnson will be a really good QB for us in a couple of years… Great day for football in the GB with a few thousand in attendance !!

Spring game comments
Beautiful afternoon in the Glass Bowl. Finally some decent weather in NWO. No real comment other than it's good to see so many familiar names on the back of jerseys with today's portal mess.

I think the QB room is solid. It's a good problem to have with Finn and Gleason.

Overall from top to bottom I thought the team looked in game shape, like winter conditioning went well. They looked lean, mean and ready to defend their title.

Our kids did the pre-game camp. It was well organized and a fun part of the day. Kudos to the athletic department.

Good to see Gleason out there. If Finn falters, or suffers an injury, Gleason will be ready.

Anyone else not sold on Finn as a passer? Of course the OL factors in.

Same but Gleason hasn’t exactly wowed me to start. Finn’s mobility makes him more effective, more potent than Gleason. Having Gleason as a backup is surely a good thing though

I have questions. I do think if Finn has a bum wheel he needs to be on sidelines. His decision making is not much better than Gleason when speed is negated

I don’t understand the reluctance by some on this board to embrace him. He has tremendous physical talents and played well for a sophomore last season. His reads will improve with experience. I’m truly excited about seeing him in 2023.

The Offense would be tremendous with improved OL execution.

I think Finn is still developing. Running is his strength, but his passing game is improving. It's just a matter of consistency and focus. We've seen what happened with a pocket passer and Toledo's O-line prior to Finn. It wasn't pretty.
