RE: Paul Finebaum talks about Memphis Conference Realignment
I didn't realize Finebaum grew up in Memphis. This is a good interview. "I think Memphis deserves better" and "one missed opportunity after another for a market that is very good" and "Memphis should be in a bigger and better league."

He's so right. Really hoping some things get ironed out and something (whether Big 12 for ACC) materializes because the UM student athletes deserve it. As does the fan base. As Finebaum said, "the numbers just don't add up."

RE: Paul Finebaum talks about Memphis Conference Realignment
The b12 would have been perfect fit - firing back at the the SEC and expanding right into the heart of SEC territory. I don't understand why they never did it.

But they didn't, they let the SEC pillage them and then picked around the edges when adding markets

He attended Christian Brothers High School and White Station High School in Memphis before graduating from the University of Tennessee. Not sure if he is a fan of any College.

That is very true.

And the SEC has made him a rich and famous person. Don't blame him for supporting the SEC. He can be very snarky and controversial, but for being an SEC advocate, I've never found him to be disparaging toward the City or University of Memphis.

Wasn't he the one that wanted Silverfield and Jim Harbaugh (Michigan coach that took his team to the playoffs in 2022) both fired?

Finebaum speaks with forked tongue. He doesn't know what he thinks. typical daily show guy. He says whatever he thinks people want to hear day-to-day.

He is a sports personality, he likes the SEC because talking about them makes him money. He says contradictory things because they spark a reaction and make him more money.

He confirmed what others have said here that Memphis had a shot at joining the SEC a long time ago. What could have been.

He’s basically a more successful and less likable Jeff Weinberger. I still like him allright though.

Of course he does. It’s a podcast for the Memphis audience. Say nice things, make more fans. Unfortunately, he has about as much influence as Pouncer.

RE: Paul Finebaum talks about Memphis Conference Realignment
I think its a tired and way overused excuse in 2023, but in this case I really do think race plays a role. Memphis is seen as a black city with a lot of violence and the B12 just wants to avoid it even though all the other metrics scream that we should be in.

I don't think the B12 just doesn't want blacks in general, it just the image of the city is really bad because of the crime and the university's image is tied directly to the city.

As he was saying it just doesn't make any sense and the numbers just don't add up. There is something else keeping this from happening and I think its the reputation of the city and university with outsiders. I've heard all the other arguments here a millions times and I just don't buy that they are enough to be the reason why.

So you think the bigxii is more racist than the state of Tennessee?
