Maybe those transfer WRs we got in this class were going to move him down the depth chart.

RE: 2023 Season Preview Thread
ESPN updated their FPI deal, basically their analytics thing. It gives each team's percentage to win each game. The odds are updated during the season based on how teams are performaning, here is Eastern's breakdown:

Howard: 99% change to win
Minnesota: 7.8%
UMass: 80.2%
Jacksonville State: 63.2%
Central Michigan: 41.6%
Ball State: 58.7%
Kent State: 67.2%
Northern Illinois: 43.8%
Western Michigan: 66%
Toledo: 28.8%
Akron: 76%
Buffalo: 41%

So going by this they have us at 7-5 and 4-4 in the MAC.

It's on each team's page. So for example, here is Ohio's...

https://www.espn.com/college-football/te...io-bobcats

You'll see their schedule on the left and you just click on an indivdual game and it'll give you the odds in a pie chart.

Something is weird with that dude. Leaving as the returning #1 or 2 depending how you view Knue seems really strange.

I've never understood why half these dudes transfer. MANY of them will not find homes and will be out of a scholarship. I think im going to start a thread by the end of this portal period with where our guys ended up or didn't end up. Could be worse.....we could be Colorado who now has 41 players exit since butt head Deion showed up.

Too early to decide whether or not Deons method will or will not work for him. Could take at least two seasons.

Deon had no choice. Colorado has been a dumpster fire for a LONG time. How bad? MSU wooed him away with $5.5M/year after just ONE 5-7 season there! Ron Cooper-like, the program was so bad, that a sub-.500 record there was considered a huge coaching success and made Mel a hot commodity.

Colorado has won just four FBS games in the last two seasons, indicative of a less than loaded roster. Why not blow it up if you have the chance? I'm not saying I approve of the practice or Deon, but with today's transfer rules, it seems logical to me.

Deion Sanders is black PJ Fleck. He dominated at a lower level because he could out recruit every team he played. Running 4 and 5 stars out in FCS - he should have won. There arent any 7 star recruits for him to get in Boulder though. hes not going to have a WAY better roster than USC or Washington or Oregon or Utah. Hes going to have to - yknow - coach. Fleck has had a difficult - but mildly successful - time with this. Can Sanders? I'm not saying it CANT be done - but I'll believes it when I sees it.

Agree. Do you think any above .500 P5 program hires Deon? I don't.

Colorado, however, is the model for where another once proud program, Nebraska is headed. That destination, would be the conference basement, hanging out with Rutgers and the like. Colorado does not have the same money Lincoln has, so they took a home run swing and hired Prime Time. Worth a shot.

Howard isn't a FCS power but I think they are better than some think. Seem headed in the right direction.

99% seems high. Maybe something like 95%.

I don't think he'll ever win the PAC-12 - but I can see him building a consistent 8-4 team out there. At Minnesota with Fleck - that flies. Will it work with such a bigger name? That I do not know.

Dan, what is the "bigger name" you reference? Deon or Colorado? Boulder has been a dumpster fire for a long time, in fact, worse than Minnesota. 8-4 might just be good enough for the university and keep in mind that the PAC-12 with USC and UCLA leaving, the conference might be the first to acknowledge that the Power Five no longer exists. Deon could win the PAC-12 as it will become a member of the of the Group of Eight, watching the SEC and B1G dominate the sport.
