Surprised he didn't play more, thought he looked really good in high school.

Was hoping for more exciting transfers with more experience, lets hope he translates better to the OVC and can put up points like he did in high school

Rob Martin can play. How many minutes did Russell get at SLU? Look how he translated his game at SEMO. Don’t knock Martin’s ability.

Didn't knock it at all. Him not having much experience or stats at a bigger school our a fact. Him putting up points like he did in high school is a fact, and I am hoping it translates to the OVC, similar to Russell like you said. If you can score 20 PPG at CBC, I have a good feeling he will be able to score at SEMO

I suppose my reaction was to your comment of hoping for more exciting transfers.
SEMO signs the 2022 Missouri 6A Player of the Year, & St. Louis Post Dispatch All-Metro Player of the Year. That doesn't excite you?

I don't know enough about high school basketball to know if it should or not. I immediately went to his stats at ISU and him not getting much playing time concerned me at first glance.
I am hoping we can bring in some size at the wings who have had some success at a bigger D1 school or JUCO.

I'm sorry but it sounds to me like your living in a dream world. The person you would like us to get from the portal is someone who is 6'5"-6'7" who averaged around 15pts. and 7 rebounds and 20 minutes per game and comes from a power 5 school. We would all like that but it ain't going to happen. Why would someone having success at a "higher profile" school transfer "down" to a mid major school. If we get a transfer from a higher profile school they will most likely be like Early, Elkamil, or Clark. Someone looking for a chance to get playing time they weren't getting at their previous school.

Exactly. Those players aren't going to a smaller school if they had success in a Power 5. Tyler Stone is a perfect example. He played a dozen or so games at Mizzou as a freshman averaging 4 minutes and 2 points. Became all OVC and still playing professionally in Europe. So, I'm not guaranteeing Martin will become a star, but to be the 6A(biggest class in MO HS) and the STL Area player of the year by the Post Dispatch(St Louis has numerous top level players every year) that's elite status in the state and something to give credit to our basketball program to bring in a player of that caliber.

You are right, I probably should have worded it better.
a 6'4-6'6" wing from a power 5 who didn't get much playing time would the perfect guy for us to grab. Or a JUCO guy or lower level D1 guy with success transferring in.
