RE: Can Deandre return?
Hardaway says he should be eligible for another year because Williams was lied to in order to get him to leave high school to go to a virtual school. They promised him he would get specific scholarships, then never gave it to him. Still, it would likely require an NCAA waiver.

RE: Can Deandre return?
I'll obviously be thrilled if he returns. We're better with him.
I can also understand if he's ready to be paid.

Wait-Deandre is 26 years old? Really? What news! (rolls eyes)

RE: Can Deandre return?
I dug around a little. Supposedly there is optimism from
The program he is entitled to another year. Also supposedly those inside Williams camp say he’s done playing college basketball. Just my opinion, but I think of penny sees a path to another year deandre will play another year.

As far as going to get paid, I think we could pay him more than over seas

I am not sure we can pay him more. He isnt a scrub trying to extend his career overseas. He is a legitimately good player who would be an asset to many overseas teams. I would think he could hit the 1mil mark somewhere.

RE: Can Deandre return?
I think DeAndre is tired of being called the “oldest player in college basketball”. Plus he’s headed to Portsmouth. He worked on his 3 pt shot. He can make some money now. I heard today that Tarik Black once made over a million a year playing in Israel. So there’s money out there

Oh jeez. The guy is already the oldest player. He’s been a great tiger, but shouldn’t there be a limit to this nonsense?

RE: Can Deandre return?
His age was way overblown as a story this year. Yea he was the oldest in d1. Not even close to being the oldest d1 player ever. Have been several 30 year olds.

George mason had a guy playing at 31 in early 2000s and I’m pretty sure he won conference player of the year.

DeAndre has no eligibility left. He had to sit out a year due to academic issues, when he first started at Evansville.

Not the answer I’ve gotten. But who knows. Yea he sat out a year, and that doesn’t count as a year playing. Same thing as red shirting

The issue is that without COVID, you have five years starting when you enroll in college to play four years. That's how redshirt players retain their eligibility for four years. But the day you start college the timer starts. DeAngelo's timer has run out, but it's possible that the NCAA would grant a hardship waiver due to how he was treated that first year and allow him to play his remaining year.

Right the Covid exemption is the extra year.
