Has hit the portal. Not surprising. He could be really good in an offense that fits his skills.

Not surprised. I hope he finds a good home. Seems like a good kid.

I really liked Stewart. He will be good somewhere. We need a lot more to leave to get back to 85, and make room for a couple of portal OL, and maybe a QB for depth.

What’s a lot? Do you have the numbers? Think we’re still trying to make room for Ryan Peppins. After watching the spring game, I still feel like we need that guy who can blow the tops off defenses. He could be that guy

7-8. Peppins is a great player but check his 7-A track stats.........not extremely fast. We have guys faster than him already here: T.J. Jones, T. Palmer, M-Mac, Shanks that is coming in, etc.

Oh wow. Looks fast on tape. Maybe more quickness and elusiveness. Still feel like we’re lacking breakaway speed that that position. Hooks may be that guy. He looked great !

Hooks has a great burst, for sure! Shropshire was able to get open deep a lot, but he was just a 4.59/forty guy. Funny how that works!

real speed v game speed. Game speed doesn't always show up on a timed 40

100% correct. The best skilled position player that I ever saw in person (David Palmer/Jackson-Olin/Alabama) ran a 4.6. Super quick and shifty though. Shropshire was great at shedding blocks!

Yep. He even wrecked into our quarterback's vehicle while intoxicated, (Palmer). You can't make this stuff up.

Chris Bradford never played a down. But Gene Stallings made Palmer sit out the first series of their next game, so it's all good.

Ended Chris's career but he served his extremely harsh punishment. I still have the article somewhere. You can't find it online. At least I couldn't last time I looked. That was swept clean.

It's in the Orlando Sentinel archive (paywalled). Here's a snippet:

In Palmer's case, Alabama coach Gene Stallings chose to suspend Palmer for one game after his first DUI arrest. That night after the game, however, Palmer visited a Tuscaloosa nightspot called the Citizens Club.

Several hours later, in the wee hours of Sept. 6, he was arrested on a second DUI charge after he refused to take a blood-alcohol test. He had appeared in court on the first charge Sept. 4.

"It made me sick to my stomach," Stallings said.

Despite an outcry from media across the nation for Stallings to suspend Palmer for the season, Palmer returned for Bama's fourth game against Louisiana Tech, returning a punt 63 yards for a touchdown.

Stallings said he decided to reinstate Palmer after his second arrest after consulting with two doctors and "a nationally known expert on behavioral problems."

"I really think, in David's career right now, he needs us," Stallings said. "He needs me, and I'm not going to turn my back on him.

"In all my coaching career, I don't believe I've coached a player as gifted and talented as David. I think he's got a problem . . . we've got to help him overcome. I know how important football is to him."

Sound familiar? I guess it was just a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
