RE: Roster Tracking - "New" AAC Basketball - 2023-2024 Season
Hate to see UNCC losing their two best players to the transfer portal before entering the AAC, i.e. Williams and Khalifa. If the same thing happens to FAU and UNT after their seasons end it will largely deflate the value of the additions to the league.

Our roster stability entirely depends on whether or not we promote Ross Hodge. If we hire him I think we can convince most to stay.

Tylor Perry said he's done at UNT (may follow McCasland to Tech) and Abou Ousmane seems to be on the outs as well. Two key pieces gone, but Sissoko has played well in Abou's absence, and we have some redshirt guys that should be ready to contribute next year.

Also have Jaylen Washington committed, whom many consider one of the best players in Texas.

Trying to be glass half full for next season. Losing Mac would suck tremendously, but he's done so much for our program that I think we're gonna be alright.

But Mac is the head coach. He is headed to Texas Tech. A local Lubbock station leaked the news last night.

RE: Roster Tracking - "New" AAC Basketball - 2023-2024 Season
UAB loses 6 seniors (including our entire starting lineup) so AK will need to be active in the portal.

Leaving:
G - Jelly Walker
G/F - Tavin Lovan
C - Trey Jemison
F- KJ Buffen
F- Ty Brewer
G- Ladarrius Brewer

Eligible to Return:
C - Javian Davis 6'9" 265
G - Tony Toney 6'2" 190
G - Eric Gaines 6'2" 165
G - Tyler Bertram 6'3" 170 (barely played)
G - Butta Johnson 6'4" 180
F - Rongie Gordon 6'8" 225 (barely played)

Incoming:
F - Chris Coleman 6'9" 200 (#2 ranked JUCO player)
G - Alejandro Vasquez 6'4 205 (#6 ranked JUCO player)
G - KJ Satterfield 6'4" 185 (3 star and #29 ranked high school PG)

We played with 12 scholarship guys so we have an extra slot open. With the unfilled scholarship, known departures, and incomers we should have 4 more spots to fill. I imagine all of those will come from the portal - AK has shown the ability to get quality portal additions since he's been here so hopefully we can re-load. But could see growing pains early with losing so much experience and having 7 new players. Also wouldn't be surprised if the two guys listed above that don't play decide to (or are asked to) move on which would open more portal opportunities for us.

Pretty easy for FAU.

Dusty May is staying.

Only senior leaving is Michael Forrest. Congrats to Michael on his Engineering degree!

With Dusty staying and some NIL deals being worked on I don't see anyone leaving but I could be wrong.

IF FAU retains its core and/or adds to their strength, they will be the favorite next season in the AAC, IMO.

FAU's advantage this year is nobody knew for sure what they had. They won't be sneaking up on anyone next year. We'll see what happens.

I'm not going to let myself get caught up in recency bias. With NIL and the portal, every year is going to be like starting over.

Let's wait until the rosters are set first.

“Heavy is the head that wears the crown" and FAU is king until supplanted.

Both of Kennesaw’s guard and their forward. The ASUB’s offensive and defensive players of the year, entered portal. Looks like they may follow coach to USF. That would be a huge boost for Bulls basketball

"Recency bias" = reality as it stands at this moment.
Things can and will change between now and next season, but if FAU retains it's roster then they don't require much retooling as all others will, so probability bias says they likely will be the favorites at least at the start of next season. Having at least a final four team as the conference's achievement metric is a very good thing....

Memphis will be the preseason favorites next year. KD doesn't get hurt they beat FAU. Penny will have the best talent in the league I have no doubt, now can they win it.y

I think ECU can finish in the top 4 IF we can land 2 or 3 key portal dudes, really like our returners assuming nothing crazy happens.
