I hate it when people make the statement in the world of sports, "you're not a true fan if..." Well, you're not a true fan if you complain about Heather. She is an enthusiastic person that "lets it all out" in a time and setting where people are encouraged to let it all out in support of the team. She's never drunk, she's always -ALWAYS- there, she is in no way vulgar. She's is a delight to talk to. (If you ever get a chance to talk to her outside of sports, I highly encourage it.)
I'll take 20 fans like her as opposed to people yelling f-bombs and launching personal attacks at players and coaches. Here's my $100.
And I'll also admire the Department finally getting on with renovations.

Man, you just made me think Senderoff signed to be Colorado's defensive coordinator and he's taking Sully and Payton with him.

Don’t hear her that much even in the lower bowl other than when the other team is shooting free throws. She really has calmed down a bit. Fifty will do that to you.

RE: Ohhh boy…..
Spinoff question, is this some sort of kickoff for a donation campaign for a new arena?

Take my money! I wish everyone at the MACC and Dix had half her spirit. Too many people including students just sitting on their hands or staring down at their phones during the game.

We are definitely NOT getting a new arena. The plan (at least from the master plan drafted few years ago) is to put a fairly significant renovation on the MACC.
We’ll see…

New Arena: Honestly, I hope not. I vastly enjoyed games in the MACC vs. the final in the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Maybe some renovation, but I like the old school feel.

The roof leaking during the Akron game was maybe not the best look.

Well, I didn't say don't fix the roof.

That's a pretty big jump from the MACC to The Fieldhouse. Other Ohio mid-majors have done it. What can it hurt to put out a strategic plan to support our successful program?

not going to pretend to be an architect but this is the model we need. maybe get it to 5k or 5.5K fans though. i would think based on current setup you could do something to merge the 2 levels of MAC center into 1.

Gentile Arena at Loyola in Chicago was nicely redone about 10 years ago. I think the problem that the MACC may have is that it isn't long which closes both ends in and doesn't allow for the full bowl that Trine or Loyola have.
One thing that I think would be nice is to redo the halls so that it makes a full loop around and then have good concessions on both ends. I think that it would require relocating the gymnastics practice room though. I don't like that they have the glassed-off section on the one side that seems to always be empty. One thing I wonder if it would be possible to redo the GA portion to have a concourse behind the stands instead of in front of it, bring the fans closer to the action.
Ah, just some random thoughts.

I've always been a fan of the arenas where you go into the gym from one level. For us that would somehow mean lowering the court. I don't know how we could do that without expanding the exterior some, which is sandwiched between 3 buildings.
Anyway, the current Power Ball jackpot is $132m.

I believe that with most newer arenas, the court is below ground level. The place where Dayton plays is well below.

Last plans I saw (5-6 years ago maybe) did call for “bowl” in the lower level…all theater seats, end zone bleachers and loge removed…the northern end had a level (or two) above the seats for standing at round tables and with concessions. This level also overlooked the practice facility further to the North. The lower bowl was accessed by going up steps (ones used to go up to the GA section as is now done). The Theater seats and removal of the loge would reduce capacity by about 1,000 as I recall.
Plan also called for the concourse to be widened substantially (walls being pushed out).
Those plans called for the upper level to remain pretty much as is.
I have no idea if those plans are still what is being considered. MAC Center is tired, worn and needs a major facelift.
