The Polish prime minister has said Russia should have been selling energy at below market prices, and not writing off past debts is a form of blackmail. He added that Poland never actually needed Russian energy, despite buying 2/3 of its gas, half its oil and nearly 1/4 of its coal from Russia in the past.

Poland is touting the reductions in the volume of Russian gas they are currently using, but at more the triple previous prices, the amount of money they are spending with Russia is nearly untouched.

There are actually some things about Europe that we could stand to adopt. But not the ones that we have tried in the ways that we have tried them.

NOT single-payer or single-provider health care, BUT Bismarck universal private health care/insurance.

NOT highly progressive tax systems (which Europe gave up in the 1990s) BUT a national consumption tax.

NOT massive redistribution of income and wealth BUT lower, flatter, and broader income taxes
