The fastest 40 was 4.52 by Dillon Thomas. Kennedy was second fastest (4.64) and Tucker third (4.66). White was 4.82. Cole 4.73. IGM 4.88. Pugh 5.01.

Yikes white at 4.82…and he was much faster than Brown…so there’s that team speed Hammock said he was recruiting.

Is it too late to withdraw and come back?

Those numbers were telling - how slow was everyone out there last season? It’s kind of a crazy thought - I legit thought that white looked like he was flying around out there…I mean pugh’s numbers are faster than I would have guessed.

So I guess in summary that defense was incredibly slow. Did it get faster?

Certainly at LB. The departure of Pugh and Rattin allows for more speed to step in. Dolphin, Alvarado and Reyner seem athletic enough. Hansen and Lafeyette can both run @ Huskie. Guess we will find out about the transfers. Byrd can move. I never thought Gandy was all that fast so maybe there's an increase there. We will just have to hope at safety.

Pugh was an effort guy. Undersized and built more like a running back. I thought he would have been way faster. But maybe the injuries caught up to him. I am going to miss his intensity and leadership. Hopefully he can step in to coaching. He's got rare leadership skills and fire.

I would agree - except maybe at Huskie, those are basically the same guys. Hansen if he starts can run, maybe Lafayette after another year is faster, Dolphin looked fast - but now I don’t trust my eyes after realizing those guys on D were as slow as they were.

And I would agree at Safety…if brown starts they are still slow back there.

Pugh was kind of a tweener. Had he been 235-240 his lack of speed would have been offset. At 225 he wasn’t fast or big. But he was a solid player who lost what athleticism he had to injuries. Great leader. Wish him well.

I am guessing Gandy is done with football? He went to Transfer portal, got an offer from Hawaii, but declined and he is still enrolled at NIU but not on Spring roster. Anyone know what is happening with him?
