FAU took care of business. Now 8-0 as a conference, and all 5 teams are bolting for the AAC.

Seems like the CUSA representative in the NCAA has won their first round game for several years running now. That should get us more respect and a second bid, but we know how that goes. The rich P5 get richer, the rest can suck an egg.

2023 tournament credits are $2,040,000 paid out over 6 years. FAU has earned 3 credits so $6,120,000 or $1,020,000/year for the next 6 years.
AAC has 4 credits so far and can get 2 more if Houston makes the Final Four. I think the credits stop at the Final Four so no additional money for making the title game. Would be interesting to know how the AAC will distribute the credits earned this year in future years. Will the new members get anything?

I keep thinking that this run is a lose-lose. Wouldn't surprise me if CUSA keeps everything from FAU's wins, and AAC says that Houston was before you joined so the 6 new teams don't get any of that either.

I would expect this to be the case and not sure why anybody would think differently? If we were remaining in a conference, we'd feel the exact same way.
We need to focus on the benefit of a better media deal and becoming a money-maker for the AAC (same thing for FAU and North Texas).
If I'm FAU, I don't care at all about the money earned from the tournament. I care about proving to a nation of potential recruits that you can play your career in Boca Raton with views like these and be less than an hour away from the cultural epicenter that is Miami...and still make waves in March.

Probably so. But FAU's run at least helps the perception of the future AAC. They return basically everyone from this rosters so if they can keep Dusty May & not lose guys to the portal they should be just as a good next year.

Yep, on a recent podcast Ingram said we wouldn't even receive our credits form last year since we are moving to AAC. So yeah we are missing out on some of the latest NCAA money, but we should be making more money overall in the AAC.
I just hope we don't pay a dime to leave.

There are no team credits, only conference credits. You leave, those credits stay with the conference.

Rice made a furious comeback to tie the game with 16 seconds left, but couldn't hold on and fall to Southern Utah 81-79.

This. The NCAA pays credits directly to conferences. The conferences distribute how they see fit.
