Penny should have given him and Lawson as many minutes as possible to acclimate them and hopefully see some growth. It was also really odd in the games Penny would play him in the first half, and he would play decent to well, he would get buried on the bench in the 2nd half. I never understood why that would happen. Overall though, Kao didnt perform up to expectations I would say.

Penny always shortened the rotations in the second half. He would also slow the game down and run more shot clock in the second half. I think this is a big reason why we had so many close games. I remember the last few years everyone got on him for shortening the rotation. Imo he went to far with it.

Good luck Kao.

But just wanted people to know he averaged 1 rebound every 6 minutes he was on the floor, which ranked 7th on the team. We already weren't a great rebounding team as a whole but Dandrige, Williams, and Lawson averaged a rebound every 4 minutes. We were top 5% nationally in rebounding opportunities but not even in the top third of defensive rebounding which is why he didnt play. On the other hand, he nearly had as many blocks(47) as he did rebounds(51) so there was value.

Hoping CPH finds a junk yard dog in this years portal.
