Penny is going to put together a very good and competitive roster.
You do realize while Alo was on the roster MEMPHIS never signed a real PG until KD came in as a transfer senior - and that before Alo decided to come back. You are naive to think kids don't look at PT as their number one consideration.
Plus, Penny said himself that one reason he went after KD was to lure DeAndre back for another year.
There are things I worry about. Penny’s ability to spot, land, and develop talent is not one of them.
Just out of curiosity, who would you say Penny has developed? It is becoming a growing concern with me. Deandre and KD transfered in playing at a high lvl. The players who have been with Penny the longest (Malco and ALo) havent improved very much from the first time they stepped onto the court wearing Memphis uniforms. Other guys transferred out and didnt really show much while they were here.
I am not saying he cant develop talent, but so far I dont think there have been many examples of Penny developing a player.
Precious was better at the end of the year, so was Duren, so was KD. Chandler, Alo, Malcolm has gotten better than their freshman year. Look at Malcolm's free throw shooting, his faceup jumper was money. Jeremiah Martin was playing better at the end of the year.
You’re right, Mr. Rolex

No doubt, not only Penny but having Larry Brown here had to have real effects. I have heard all the players talking about their improvement while learning from Penny. At the same time, on the offensive end, so far (to me) most of the players havent seemed to have improved much over their time here. Unfortunately, because of the transfer situation and other reasons, we havent had many players who started out getting minutes as a freshman and stayed here through their eligibility to see the payoffs.
the team looks better with Frank Haith as 1st asst IMHO...keep that guy around.

Agree. Larry Brown is a legend but was probably past his advising prime. Haith is in his prime.

You sound like the president of the Josh Pastner fan club.
So that MSU guy that finds problems with every single post and starts fights with every single person on the board gets banned and now a new guy pops up that finds problems with every single post and trying to start fights with every single person....
hrm... scratch my head....
anyone else notice how good the board has been lately pre-thisguy showing up?
First off, I haven’t tried to fight with anyone. I made a comment about how well Penny has done. Then instantly one person makes a wise crack about how fans act like Penny hung the moon. He made that comment in a posting started by someone saying “thank you to Penny”, which is low class. I then respectfully disagreed with his takes. I didn’t call him names. I’ve only posted like 9 times. Your claim that I’m trying to fight with everyone is a lie, totally false. I believe I’ve only responded to three people in total. You being the third one.
The claim that I am someone else, such as the MSU person is absurd. I am not him. I am Keith. You only accuse me of being another person because you don’t like what I have posted here. Probably if I came here to post negative stuff about Penny, you would like it. With your response to me here, it seems clear that you do not like Penny. Which you are free to do. I have no desire to fight with you or anyone else. Yes, I did make a wise crack to that one guy, saying to him that he must be the president of the Josh Pastner fan club. But that doesn’t equate to me wanting to fight with everyone here.
I simply joined this message board because I love the Tigers.

Yep, that seems like a bit of a stretch. He is a good coach to help mentor Penny but replace him? Idk about that. Hopefully Penny isn't going anywhere for a long, long time.

Kind of figure Penny will stay through Ashton's 4 years. Will be interesting to see how much further he goes than that. Certainly hard to imagine he needs the money and the headaches!

Toxic positivity is just as bad as toxic negativity.
Extreme heat or cold will kill you just the same.
For some reason, people who are overly positive always think they have the moral high ground but they don't.
