MyBB 2023 NCAA March Madness 2nd Round Thread
Why don't we start a new thread for each round? The first thread's already up to 24 pages long.

It wouldn't be so long if we could refrain from posting minute by minute scores of the games in progress. At least this round there are only half as many games.

Potential Sweet 16 matchups that won't happen because I just jinxed them by talking about them... I mean everyone thought Texas vs. Texas A&M was going to happen although I personally am glad that didn't happen:) (We are... Penn State!)

Penn State vs. Pittsburgh? (Won't happen because both are double digit seeds)

Kentucky vs. Michigan State? (Calipari vs. Izzo)

Houston vs. Indiana (Kelvin Sampson used to coach at Indiana)

Kansas vs. UConn

UCLA vs. Gonzaga (2006 anyone?)

and finally... Duke vs. ... Fairleigh Dickinson!!! Come on, that would be the ultimate David vs. Goliath! And FDU is roughly 16 miles from Madison Square Garden! And you know what that means... we'll get Florida Atlantic vs. another SEC team. Well I just jinxed matchup too then:)

This is San Diego State's/the MWC's big opportunity. If they don't make the Sweet 16 this year they may never make it again.

It always amazes how many games have the rows directly behind the team benches empty.

Congrats to SDSU on snapping the MWC 2nd weekend drought! Fewer words are sweeter than sweet sixteen. Hoping my Coogs can punch their ticket tonight.

Thanks for reminding me that I drove 2000 miles in 3 days to watch that abortion of a game. At least FDU and Princeton stole all the headlines.

Wow, I didn't realize Duke was such a young team. Four freshman starting.

If Duke doesn't make the Sweet 16, they may never make it again. See what I did there? The MWC had 4 teams in the dance this year, they're doing just fine. And SDSU seems likely to have plenty of opportunities in the future after they join the Pac.

If Tennessee can hold on and beat Duke that would basically decapitate the ACC in this tournament. Because Pitt and Miami aren't going anywhere.

Tennesee isn't Furman last time I checked. And the MWC hadn't made the Sweet 16 since 2018 before this year.

Agreed. Pitt or Miami might make a S16 but Duke is the only real final four threat. Very down year for the ACC.

Tennessee dominates Duke 65 to 52.

Tennessee beating Duke in the NCAA tournament would be like I don't know, Syracuse beating Alabama in a big college football game.. Just hard to conceive.

Congratulations Volunteers..

I watched most of the Tennessee vs. Duke game. The Vols simply out-toughed Duke. With UT's steel-jaw-leghold-trap-like defense, all the Vols need to do to beat teams is to hit a few threes and minimize turnovers. A solid Tennessee offense (doesn't have to be great) will yield wins — because the Vol defense is stellar.

Tennessee has been good for a long time. The ACC had a down year. Duke has 4 freshmen starters. As much as I'd like to say this is a Sign that Duke is Over, it's just one year and K had plenty of 2nd round exits in tossup games over the decades.

He had gone too long without referencing Alabama football, nothing to see here.

I once enjoyed his 250 posts a day; now it's just exaggerated nonsense.
