See, you completely missed what I wrote about that. Your definition is simply different from what most, including mine, would be. To you, not having "HC" on their resume means they're a "diamond in the rough" ipso facto. I couldn't have 'splained that more clearly. You're free to think that way, but it's not the way most see it. His background is extensive and well-known. I do know Forbes missed a game or two at ETSU, but I don't remember whether he or shay was running things on those/that occasion. I do remember Sandos quipping after the game that "__________________ now has a 1-0 coaching record". (I actually think it was shay.) But we'd probably agree, even if it was Savage, that that doesn't count. So, let's call it 0-0. If your problem was the length of my answer, then I'm sorry; hope you're not an ETSU graduate, as that would be a poor reflection of our institution.

RE: Head Coach Savage
Savage was the "acting" HC at Georgia Tech last year when Forbes was out with COVID. WF won 80-64. According to the game notes on the WF website, it was the 1st time WF had won at GT since 2004. Crazy to think it had been that long since WF had won at GT considering ETSU won at GT in 2015, in Forbes 3rd game as the HC at ETSU. If you want to see Savage coach a game, I would think that game is probably archived somewhere on the internet.

RE: Head Coach Savage
WJHL has announced, to no one's surprise, that Brooks Savage will be announced tomorrow as head coach.
Philosophical or ideological discussions aside whether he should be a head coach or not, my question, based on what is known about his coaching record, is this. It is generally acknowledged that he can recruit and has been involved in the offensive side of successful basketball programs. Does Coach Savage have the ability to coach defense or can he bring in assistants who can do so? Possibly Coach Hugely can provide that element.[/i]

I guess I was expecting a press conference and an official announcement so we could hear from Coach Savage. I welcome him back and look forward to seeing his recruits and watch the roster develop for next year. Go Bucs!

Anyone know where or how to access the entire press conference? One would think WXSM the "Sports Monster" and supposed flagship station of the Bucs would carry it, but they have dropped the ball so many times on such things as these that I've learned to not depend on 640AM.

WJHL is supposed to stream the press conference live.

RE: Head Coach Savage
Savage says, similar product, different packaging from Forbes. Beating Chattanooga again in front of sellout crowds. Encouraging the players to stick around, they’re “plenty good” I believe. None of this wait until my guys come in down the road talk. Keeping Hugley on staff, like it. Savage is no Forbes behind the mic, but who else is? Much more refreshing than another dry Oliver moment…

Of course, then WJHL feed dropped for no apparent reason. Way to drop the ball.

I still think we’ll see a couple players leave, and there are a couple that might be suited to at that. Hopeful to see who Savage brings in to top off the roster.

Impressed by the presser. Happy Hugley is staying. Said all the right things, lets see if he can put wins on the board!

I thought he did a great job. Like Forbes, he said there is no reason to wait as we can win next year. That has never been more true than now with the transfer portal. Coach Hugley staying is great news. Cannot wait to see who he brings in to complement Haynes, Taylor and Seymour. The Bucs will be back competing for the SoCon championship! Go Bucs!

RE: Head Coach Savage
When Forbes was hired he made it clear that the guys on the team were “his” guys immediately. Guys like AJ and Ike Banks, etc. Glad to see Savage is expressing the same thing and hopefully the core pieces take it to heart and stay here. He did a good job today and said all the right things. Having Hugley stay around is awesome. Hope springs eternal.

JC Press is saying that "Pun" Tisdale will join Joe Hugley on the staff with the remainder to be filled in soon.

This will have to be one of the youngest staffs anywhere in the country.

The jc press article did say Tisdale would be in a "Player Development role" which makes me think he won't be one of the 3 main assistants, unless I am interpreting that term wrong.

Too bad we couldn’t get Pun a Covid year. Could use the help at PG and he sure was a good one. I love bringing in guys with roots here.
