However, it's here, let's talk.
Goal of the university is to move people up. IF Dennis can get a round 2, who wouldn't cheer for that? Moving to another team and university to take on more challenges is what risk takers do. They don't spend their lives living in the parent's shadow. They separate, start from scratch, whatever to take the risks and see where their talents live on their own merits. Then they come back and live off the parents. If Dennis goes out, his stated goal is to become a coach. Go out, see how others do it (same thing I opined Candle should have done), then move up and hopefully come back someday as coach. The perfect story.
BG just brought in a coach that never played. Was a high school assistant then took a risk, moved across country working as an unpaid assistment and made a name. This is the way.
I miss any player but there is nothing they accomplish on our court the university can take pride in more than what they do after.
Doesn't sound like Coach Howard's sons are getting that playing for him at Michigan. Going to a higher budget program with highly recruited players doesn't exactly sound risk taking. Our Coach K seems to do a very good job developing talent. UT is in a guard oriented league and have been performing well. The problem is, they need two or three
athletically talented 6'8" -7 ft bigs to be able to break thru. A true talented big would have made this team a great one vs being good-very good.

Someone on the UM game thread brought up that Howard was way too friendly with RJ and I countered with that exact point. Maybe you read it?
Michigan is not an up and coming team that looks to challenge for an NCAA like the Alabama that Sears transfered to. I wouldn't behoove Dennis to stay at Toledo if he had chance transfering to a program like that, particularly if he can do it with a UToledo degree in hand. Risk takers take risks.

I hope RayJ gets an NBA contract. But I think his average quickness will only get him an overseas contract. He is clever but I believe he could get shut down most nights by quicker NBA defenders. Hope I'm wrong.

Best of luck to Dennis. This hurts as a fan, but it makes complete sense. RayJ's stock is not going to improve with another year of college ball. He may be a long shot for the NBA, but he will make good money playing basketball somewhere. I think that he is a much better pro prospect than Sincere Carry.

Many podcasts have mentioned this was the worst pg year of MBB maybe ever. It could be just timing. He's smooth as butter and could really turn some heads during camps.

This is exciting. Worry about next year, next year. Hoping he gets his 2nd round. Getting two draftpicks in a row would be quite the coaching feather in the cap.

RE: Dennis, PLEASE STAY!
What TK said below after the NIT game suggests that he could still return depending on the feedback he receives:
“It is my opinion that he needs to test the NBA waters,” UT coach Tod Kowalczyk said. “And the one thing about going through that process with Ryan Rollins, the NBA is so thorough. The undergraduate advisory committee is professional, they’re thorough, they’re unbelievable. He’ll get good advice.
“He’ll sign with an NCAA-certified agent. His family is on top of it. We’re on top of it. He’ll get great advice from his mom and dad. He’ll get great advice from myself, Justin [Ingram], and Jeff Massey. If that’s what’s best for him, great. If not, he’ll be back.”
Marreon Jackson entered his name into the 2020 draft and received feedback, but returned to Toledo.

Until I see him back in a Toledo jersey in November I’m not buying it, rumors are going around Illinois has been in contact with his family, Illinois currently looking for a point guard after Jayden Epps hit the portal

Weren't you the same poster who swore up and down last year that Rollins was transferring? How'd that turn out?

NBA 2 rounds, a long shot for anyone from the MAC, but Rollins made it. Let him good advice and if it is not there, he will be back with the Rockets.

RE: Dennis, PLEASE STAY!
As TK said after the season, RayJ, his parents and UT Coaching Staff are doing their due diligence to see if or where he is projected to be drafted. They will use all of the available resources like the Undergraduate Advisory Committee and NBA team officials to make a proper decision in the best interests of RayJ. He has until the end of April to stay in the draft or pull out. If he gets a 1st Round Grade, I think its a no brainer what his decision will be. If he gets a 2nd Round Grade, like Rollins last year, he will weigh the plusses and minuses of going or coming back to Toledo. Whatever decision he does make, we need to respect it as it is a life changing decision he is about to make!

Is that allowed? Rules have changed so much over the years that I don't know what can be done in terms of contacting players from other teams about transferring out of a school. May not be contacting the player directly, but rather the parents? Seems that they could also be waving NIL money in front of the parents, ability to see him play more, etc. Again, seems sleazy if that player is not in the portal, but I don't know if it breaks NCAA rules. Its not as though the NCAA would care about a mid-size program like Toledo anyway.

Current Transfer Portal rules are pretty lax but state that a player or his or her parents cannot be contacted by an opposing school until they put their name into the Portal. But as been the case, schools get around that by contacting other individuals close to the player like a High School or AAU coach. As for NIL money, again, it is suppose to be used for players currently on a roster, but like the portal existing loopholes, schools are offering NIL to big time players as a recruiting tool like the player at Miami who got a ton of money and a car to transfer from Kansas St before last season. So in a nutshell, it's the "wild west" when it comes to the Portal and NIL!
